The Pakistan Cricket Board is not happy with the stand taken by their Indian counterparts in the special meeting in London which was convened to resolve the deadlock over the hosting of the 2011 World Cup matches.

According to PCB sources, chairman Ejaz Butt was quite unhappy after BCCI president Shashank Manohar did not cooperate with Pakistan in its bid to retain the hosting rights of its share of 14 matches of the quadrennial event.

"Butt is unhappy the Indian cricket chief simply refused to cooperate with Pakistan's proposal of hosting its share of World Cup matches at neutral venues," one source told PTI.

"Initially when Butt met ICC President David Morgan and vice-President Sharad Pawar in London, the latter had assured him things would be resolved," the source added.

But at the joint meeting - attended by Pakistan, India, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh, besides ICC representatives - the BCCI adopted a strong stance and Pawar told Butt he could not do anything if the Indian board did not want the matches to be held at neutral venues.

Butt left the meeting in a huff after the other co-hosts refused to accept his proposal of allowing Pakistan to host its share of matches at neutral venues in Abu Dhabi and Dubai.

The sources said Butt also exchanged harsh words with the representative of the Bangladesh board, Mahboob Ali.

"They had an argument with Butt telling Ali Bangladesh also had security issues, so the World Cup matches should not be held there as well," the source said.

We MUST participate to counter Indians move to isolate Pakistan. IMO Winning a tournament is better than to boycott just like we slaped our rivals with our performace by crowning T20. :flame:

Let them host it in India, and We shall defeat them in the enemy's homeland. I say let India host it, we don't sweat it, and the Pakistani team shall descend upon India and embarrass them in front of their entire nation.

Though I understand the downside is not hosting the games we lose out on a money-making opportunity that hosting the 2011 games will bring due to tourism. Though never mind that.

India is an arrogant nation and the region knows this well including China, they are up to their old games.

Nonetheless, may the World Champion Pakistani team crush them.

i think pakistan's case is strong enough to win by proceeding with court case which they have already files agains icc and they really have good case.
they cant exclude pakistan from world cup hosting thats for sure, and they will get their hosting share which is amounting around 10m. there is only a dispute of place where matched to be help and pakistan's offer is very reasonable.

things were different before wining of world cup but now they will be heard properly

I say let us boycott the world cup If the matter is not resolved in the court. Now we are the T-20 champions and let the world know about India's arrogance.. I bet there will be no flavor without Pakistan!!

The BCCI and other cricket boards are being complete obstructionists here.

The matches were to be held in Pakistan, and if we can't hold them in Pakistan we should be able to hold them at a convenient neutral location of our choosing.

What neutral location are you talking about? Abu Dhabi? This world cup was supposed to be held in South Asia, if Pakistan can't host the matches (Lets face it, no country would play in Pak even if the matches were scheduled there) the matches should be allocated to other South Asian countries. Hosting matches in places like Abu Dhabi and Sharjah would be a logistical nightmare.

The ICC's website says this about the 2011 WC:

"The next ICC Cricket World Cup will be held in 2011 in Bangladesh, India, Pakistan and Sri Lanka."
ICC Events - ICC Cricket World Cup

It does not say it will be held in South Asia.

Also:

"Asia have won the bid to host the 2011 World Cup by beating a joint bid by Australia and New Zealand by ten votes to three. "
Asia to host 2011 World Cup | Cricket News | Global | Cricinfo.com

Asia is not limited to India,Sri Lanka and Bangladesh - the UAE falls in that category as well.

To me the Indian obstructionism seems to stem out of the same hostility to Pakistan that we saw in the IPL, along with greed, which is probably why Sri Lanka and Bangladesh are supporting the Indians.

I see no legal reason why, if the UAE has adequate infrastructure to host the Pakistani matches, Pakistan should not be allowed to shift her share of the matches to the UAE.

You can't be serious. India, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Pakistan won the rights to hold the tournament - ie South Asia. Cricinfo using Asia is entirely irrelevant. You're turning this into a semantic debate. Lets be clear, the tournament was supposed to be held in four countries. If one of them can't host the tournament for whatever reason, it is only logical the venues will be equally divided among the other three nations.

Pakistani cricketers not playing in the IPL is entirely the fault of the GOP. The Pakistani government refused to send its cricketers for the IPL when it was supposed to be held in India. They gave the greenlight to its cricketers a few days before tournament was supposed to begin in SA. Did the GOP really expect the IPL to be okay with it?

I see no legal reason why, if the UAE has adequate infrastructure to host the Pakistani matches, Pakistan should not be allowed to shift her share of the matches to the UAE.

You don't see a legal reason? How about the fact that UAE did not win the bid to host the tournament? Nations can't be given hosting rights arbitrarily. You do not think such a move would be contested by the Australian, NZ, cricket boards?

However this is all conjecture. Even if UAE could host the tournament, it wouldnt for the simple reason of logistics. You can't expect cricketers and tournament organizers to go back and forth from Abu Dhabi to New Delhi. Pakistan is one thing, but the middle east?

You talk of Indian obstructionism, but the fact of the matter is India had the ability to host the tournament on its own. It did not because the BCCI felt it would be better to jointly host it to consolidate the solidarity of the asian bloc.

.
Indians showing their true colors again, I mean, hell, let them be, the BCCI obviously doesn't want to give the PCB the rights or opportunity to host this at other neutral venues of their choice.
Who cares, screw them, we won the World Cup, enough said, and with our current squad, it will be a pleasure to play in India and to repeat the same trick again.

.
I think pakistan fighting battel alone for world cup match host in gulf. I think PCB spoil the relation with bangadesh and sri lanka too. Sri lanka send cricket team to pakistan and what happend. I think PCB have to find out way with other cricket board and go for world cup metting with icc. Just my 2 cent

Pakistan won the right to host the world cup. We can easily host the matches in Dubai and Abu Dhabi which are like an hour and 15 minutes flight from Karachi!

You're talking as if there would be some religious blasphemy by making that flight. Remember the UAE has three superb grounds to host those 14 matches and they have better facilities, better hotels, better transport and most of all the better security situation than any SA country.

India just wants to take the money away from Pakistan.

I am as serious as you were in arguing that 'South Asia' won the tournament. South Asia did not win it - either the 4 nations won it or Asia won it, that much is clear. So now that particular argument of yours is debunked we can move on.

Four countries bid for the tournament and Pakistan was one of them - that is important, Pakistan won the right to host 14 matches and these were allocated to it. Now the ICC wants to strip Pakistan of those matches for 'security concerns', but has continued to recognize Pakistan as a 'co-host'. If Pakistan is still a co-host, and the ICC's objections revolve around 'security' in Pakistan, then as co-host Pakistan is within its rights to propose hosting those matches in a location where security will not be an issue and infrastructure and logistics are not an issue.

The precedent has already been set with Pakistan holding domestic series in neutral venues. In addition, Pakistan is not depriving any of the other host nations of any thing. These were matches to be held in Pakistan, and if they are not held there then it is Pakistan and the Pakistani public that are the losers, not India, not Sri Lanka and not Bangladesh.

Pakistan's proposal to shift the matches to a nearby neutral venue affects no one but Pakistan.

Your argument of 'logistics' is borne out of ignorance. It is an approximately one hour flight to the UAE from Lahore or Karachi. Even Ferry services can be utilized. There is a huge expatriate population in the Gulf that would be more than willing to attend the matches, plus the fact that Dubai is a tourist destination in its own right, which would add to the incentive of traveling to the UAE for the World Cup.

The World cup HQ was shifted from Lahore to Mumbai. The distance from Lahore to Mumbai is 1401 Km.

The distance from Mumbai to Dubai is 1937 Km.

The distance from Delhi to Dubai is 2207 Km.

The distance from Delhi to Colombo is 2422 km.

The distance from Delhi to Dhaka is 1427 Km.

The distance from Mumbai to Dhaka is 1896 Km.

So lets drop this canard about 'logistics'. Its a flawed argument that is easily debunked.

And if India could have hosted the WC on its own, then it should have bid for its on its own. No need to bring up speculative arguments of 'woulda, shoulda, coulda'. The bid was joint, Pakistan won co-host status, and apparently has it for now, despite not being allowed to host matches, and therefore as co-host is within its rights to suggest alternate venues where security is not an issue and the infrastructure to host the WC exists.

Why not? Were the players not under existing contracts? Did they become lepers in the interim? All they had to do was fly over to SA and participate. Players released by national teams, after being in consideration for national selection, have joined up with county and club sides on short notice, if contracts already exist.

India just wants to take the money away from Pakistan.

yes its takes only 1hour 15 min from karachi but imagin they have next match in dhaka or kolkata then what?players won't prefer it.

are you serious about India just wants to take the money away from Pakistan! do you think that bcci is greedy about those 14 match money even they are not claiming to hohs all 14.dude seriously, they made more money then everyone by just organizing the IPL itself. I think your problem is that you got serious issues with INDIA.

I know its embarrasing moment for PCB but what can you do if none wants to play in pakistan.
