American Propaganda: China will Reclaim Siberia

This typical US desperate propaganda will only drive China and Russia closer because Xi and Putin are too smart to fall into this trap. @vostok

In fact, I wish they continue providing more propaganda news to drive Russia and China apart because it will have the counter effect of getting even more closer.
This is their biggest dream. Arrange another world war and sitting on their far-away island and raking in money on the military orders. Along the way, writing off tens of trillions of debt.
But that will not happen.

.
It is not just the USA who say China would like to take Siberia, it is the Russian who are MOST vocal about this.

PDF PRC need to see things in a balance way.

Looking at demographics, PRC taking over Outer Manchurian could just happen if the trend continue. The Russian elites are so selfish that right now Eastern Siberia are left to rot, while the Oligarch enrich themselves massively. Russian girls like to have sex and 25% ever got sex diseases. All these cause Russian population to drop.

Next door in inner Manchurian there is so many people. It would be likely that Outer Manchuria get flooded by Chinese.

Russians are very vocal about western plans. And there are very few chinese in eastern russia. More like there are more chances of a central asian flood of people than flood of chinese.

Not going to happen, the population of Manchuria is declining anyway, you just don't know how the people of Manchuria are serious of one child policy
And why should we take back the outer Manchuria? The Russians have nukes, take land from a nuclear country is impossible, and in modern world,no one have the rights to take other's land

Anyway, like it or not,China and Russia can't become allies.

Chinese people migrate where there are opportunities to make money. We love money. This is not a secret. With our plan to develop the Central and Western China, more people will go there.

I like to look at territory of the 19th to 20th century history like playing at a poker table. There are winner (Russia, USA) and then there are loser (Japan, Germany) that have to accept this at the gambling table due to their miscalculation in going all in with their chip. For China at the poker table, I consider us doing "Okay". We certainly didn't win at the poker table but we played well enough to stay "alive". This is why despite our empire got smaller compare to Qing Empire, we manage to have the 4th largest territory in the world even when our strength is not even in the top 10 during that era. We have less chip to play but we manage to stay alive in that nasty era. I am very proud of that.

See, Earth is a limited place. Ultimately ,we have the gas giants in solar system ,the langrangian points of planets etc. If we built floating cities which could float in the gas giant's atmosphere ,with the virtually unlimited resources of gas giants we can migrate to space. This expenditure on military and politics is useless.

If we are to survive ,we need to colonize outer space and the oceans.

Everyone was hungry for land back in those day because everyone had that idea of (and I would like to borrow our German friend's word) "lebensraum", so it is easy to see why land border changed so much in those era. Ultimately in today modern era, the concept of land is no longer essential because there are international treaty and law safeguarding national territorial integrity of each member states, with exception to a few land disputes here and there, but for the most part, it is not important. Today, the game is about maritime and air territorial battle. This is why you see us increasing our strength in those area to prepare for the worse. We learn our mistakes from the past. We seek to get stronger in area where there is real potential flash point for world conflict which is ocean and air.

Now in hundred to thousand of years later, we might go to colonize the moon or other territories in space but that is so far away. In fact, we prepare ourselves, set ourselves up to compete in that realm as well so we don't become a loser.

Russian bro should let VNese to stay in Siberia to watch over Chinese there for u.

I will say this . In hundred years, there will be colony on moon. In 200 years, there will colonies around the gas giants. The real potential for colonization is in the upper atmosphere of gas giants and venus.

:rofl: how about also taking Alaska and Greenland? just look at this map, Western Propaganda completely lost their mind from desperation the Russian Chinese alliance is giving them.
In fact china has many problems of their own to fill their own country, look at the western parts of china thats where all their future resources lie like shale oil and gas, its very densianly populated so further you go away from the Han core and with many minorities as well.

The Myth of Chinese Mass Migration into Russia

August 14th, 2012 Mister Unknown Leave a comment Go to comments

I stumbled upon a rather entertaining Reuters article a few days ago, reporting Russia’s latest move to supposedly defend against a so-called “soft invasion” from China – in which massive yellow hordes from China’s over-populated Northeast will systematically migrate into and outnumber the dwindling Russian population in the Russian Far East (RFE), and eventually assume de facto control. This article includes some very comical anecdotes, including the not-so-subtle hint that Russia recently deployed two additional submarines to counter Chinese influence in the Russian Far East, while making no mention whatsoever of recent Russo-Japanese maritime territorial disputes over resource-rich islands in the Sea of Japan. If I were a five year old, I might be led to believe that submarines are far more useful in guarding sparsely-populated land against illegal migrants, than showing resolve in a maritime dispute… which would inevitably make me wonder why the US Navy does not deploy SSNs in the Rio Grande against illegal Mexican migrants.

But joking and non-sense aside, having actually written a senior thesis on the topic of the “yellow peril” myth in Russia, I wanted to throw out a few facts to illustrate the “dire magnitude” of this supposed “threat” from the “yellow hordes”:

  1. There are a total of fewer than 500,000 Chinese residing in all of Russia at any given point, the majority of which resides in western Russia. In fact, more Chinese reside in Moscow than in the entirety of the RFE region.
  2. The ethnic Chinese population makes up less than 3% of the RFE’s total population.
  3. Out of that aforementioned ~3%, nearly 89% are seasonal migrants with no intent of permanent settlement – business people, workers, students – those who stay less than 1-year; over 8% stayed in the region for longer than 2 years; and the remainder (less than 2% out of that aforementioned 3%) expressed a desire for permanent residence (defined as 10 years or longer).
For those who care to verify these stats, check out “Alexseev, M. (2006) Immigration Phobia and the Security Dilemma, New York: Cambridge University Press.”

I think the article “Chinese migration: still the major focus of Russian Far East/Chinese North East relations?” by Sullivan and Renz in The Pacific Review (Volume 23, Issue 2, 2010) aptly summed up emerging attitudes of local residents in the RFE:

“… after a decade of apocalyptic warnings about waves of Chinese immigrants penetrating the RFE, local residents have become increasingly aware that the inflated figures of Chinese migrants residing in the region legally or illegally do not correspond to actual developments.”

That said, I don’t expect the China-bashers in the western media to stop propagating the myth of Chinese hordes invading Russia any time soon. Its not like facts actually matter to them. On the other hand, while the China-bashers are obviously inflating this “threat” at every given opportunity, one must recognize that the west did not create this myth; its origins go back to the late 19th century and was renewed by xenophobic self-serving local politicians within the RFE. In the face of challenges largely beyond its control, China still has much work to do to foster understanding and trust in Sino-Russian relations not only on a state-to-state level, but also on a societal level.

The Chinese 'Invasion' Of Siberia Is A Myth

The idea that a resurgent and overpopulated China will inevitably take over the quickly-depopulating lands of Eastern Siberia is a common one. Writing in Commentary, Michael Rubin noted the swiftly growing numbers of Chinese living in Siberia and speculated that China has designs on Russia’s Asian possessions. The Diplomat published an article straightforwardly titled “China’s Russian Invasion” and numerous other outlets such as the Harvard International Review, ABC News,France 24, and the BBC have produced content which strongly suggests that a Chinese takeover of the Russian Far East is a matter of when, not if. I can personally attest that the “Chinese invasion” hypothesis is broadly accepted by the Washington elite: for such a seemingly obscure topic, it is casually dropped into both small talk and formal speeches with surprising frequency. “Everyone knows” that an increasingly dynamic China will dominate a Russia that is vodka soaked and dying.

I’m not sure how much of this invasion enthusiasm is traceable to Tom Clancy’s popular novel The Bear and The Dragon, in which the Americans and the Russians team up to defeat an Chinese annexation of (you guessed it!) Eastern Siberia, and how much is the result of simple panic at China’s unprecedentedly rapid rise to global prominence. To be perfectly honest, I don’t really care why so many people get so worked up about the Chinese, the Russians, and a largely desolate area in which very few people live. What I do care about is that the “Chinese invasion” is a myth: it simply is not taking place and, given the demographic trends, there’s no reason to expect that it will take place.

What makes me so confident in making such an assertion? Well the population of the Chinese provinces bordering Russia, the areas that would be expected to export people, is already stagnant:

ChinaBorderPop.png

But why is their population stagnating? Maybe everyone has already decamped for Russia? Well the regions bordering Russia have seen their natural rates of population change (i.e. the rate at which births exceed deaths) plummet rapidly. As people have fewer and fewer children China’s population has started to age rapidly. The regions bordering Russia, though, have aged far more rapidly than China as a whole. In fact, if current trends continue, within the next several years the Chinese population on the Russian border will start to shrink.

ChinaBorderPopNatChange.png

If the Chinese aren’t moving to Siberia where are they moving? Well in a pattern that precisely matches what you would expect to see in country that is rapidly urbanizing, the Chinese mostly seem to be moving to the big cities. In contrast to the stagnation of the Russian border region, the populations of major economic centers like Beijing, Shanghai, and Guangdong are exploding

RelativeChange1991-2013.png

The simple (and rather banal) truth is that no one seems to want to live in Eastern Siberia. Russian statistics shows that the Russian Far East is losing people to other parts of Russia. Chinese statistics show that the Chinese provinces bordering Russia are demographically stagnant and on the verge of natural population loss. What no statistics anywhere show is a sustained Chinese push into the virgin lands of Siberia.

Given the reality of a China that is swiftly becoming more educated and more urbanized, and also given the reality of China’s rapid demographic transition, there is no reason to expect that there will be a sudden increase in the already-low demand for living in an obscure, rural region with a horrific climate and an underdeveloped economy. China’s population is quickly becoming more concentrated in areas with higher standards of living and better economic opportunities. This will create major challenges for municipal governments and for the Chinese communist party, and could lead to severe political and economic problems. But what it absolutely won’t lead to is a Chinese “invasion” of the Russian Far East. Unless there is a dramatic change in government policy, the region will remain what it has always been: an underpopulated backwater.

NY Times isn't run by the government, so "propaganda" in its pure form is not an accurate term.

People have the freedom to write what they want and have it be published. And everyone else has the right to question it openly, dismiss it outright, or not even read it.

This op-ed is a fairly innocuous one compared to the constant daily barrage on non-sense about how the US is determined to perfect its earthquake machine before declaring the whole ME belongs to Israel, or that Washington is only days away from invading Russia.

. .
Total bullshit, but how funny would THAT be ? Russia would be a little piss-ant country then. When I was young, we had a family friend that was a Kalmyk. Little Buddhist Asian looking guy who absolutely HATED Russia ! He didn't even allow the color red in his house. I think he'd be chuckling in his grave now. This one's for you, Nikolai !!!!:woot:

American dirty trick again.

That's right, chief. We're full of 'em. Better put your tin foil hat on. I can read your mind, and it's wacky.:usflag:

...the US is determined to perfect its earthquake machine before declaring the whole ME belongs to Israel,...

I'm almost finished. The thing shakes REAL NICE !:usflag:
