Mine is there, so I am confused. It not my intention to put down the people of Hong Kong. I said some (majority) of them have some racist tendency. What the heck, all of us do even if we don't acknowledge it.

Why does the US have responsibliity towards people born in another country? China doesn't feel resposibility towards Chinese born in San Francisco do you?

If those people are children of Americans then the US does have certain responsibilities towards them....besides the US brought a lot of Vietnamese orphans and refugees when they came back...I would argue Amerasians should have been a top priority to bring back.

If those people are children of Americans then the US does have certain responsibilities towards them.

This is a private matter. The US government provides the legal framework for its citizens to settle these matters within that framework, of course, but it is up to them.

The problem for the US legal framework is that they did not cover Moral issue..

Within the US legal framework, unless you can definitely pinpoint to the father or the mother being an American, the child is not an American in nature. Even if you have a black-americasian kids, you still cannot proof his/her heritage and apply for US citizenship that way, you would need a name form the father or a mother to sponsor such a child.

Problem is, most of these people are born to soldier that come and goes, also some of them actually did died over there. Unless the child can locate his/her American parentage, there are no legal basis or ground work to get these kids to America. Unless someone step up, this will never happen, and to be honest, most Soldier back then did not even know they have kids, a casual sexual encounter, and they left to fight the next day and may or may not see the mother again, let alone knowing that women have their kids.

This is quite a complex issue, if America allow these flood gate to be open, you are talking about thousand and thousand of case, both legitimate and illegitimate, which will strain the system. It take time and money to process these case. And for now, unless there is a proper sponsorship, ie, someone step up, I cannot see the federal government will and should step up to the plate and do anything. As an advance society, there is a demand to separate moral and law.
