The other day I was sitting and discussing what would have been the impact in history had Turkish Empire
had remained as unit in 1920 till now? Imagine had they been neutral in historic sense.

1. One of the things post ban on collecting Navy Tax from merchant ships was Empire was seeking
financing. Imagine the impact , when oil was discovered in Turkish territories (Known as Gulf countries)
had history been different?

Trillions of Dollar worth of $$ , and The Turkish Empire would have been the single point of Oil and power
to whole planet

(Just 1 Generation difference between Fall of Empire and Discovery of Oil in Middle east)

2. Perhaps Palestine would have been under Turkish control and there would have been no Israel

3. There would be no Dictators in Egypt / Libya , the money generated from Tourism would have further
provided revenue for the Empire. No monarchy in Gulf

4. May be there would be Shinkensen like train running between Africa/ Middle east / Turkey

5. With the funding from Oil money Turkey , would have certainly been involved in Space Race
With budget greater then of USA/Europe combined

6. Egypt / Libya / Tunisia would have been great hubs for trade in Africa , giant Mega ports of trade
Since there would be no suez canal

7. Perhaps may be there would be a Bridge from Oman to Pakistan 4, lane bridge

8 . Iran and Turkish empire would have perhaps enjoyed healthy trade, and there would be no iran -iraq war

9. UAE , major cities in Middle east would have pure Islamic architecture in buildings but on colossal scale.

10. There would be no Somali piracy as Somalia would have been absorbed into Empire to curb piracy

11. Pakistan would have may be joined the federation with Turkey in 1980 or may be in 1990

12. International Space Station perhaps would have Turkey as contributor

13. Turkey would have been representative on the Global Council with Veto powers
representing perhaps 15% of world population

14. Turkish Football league would be among the best in world combining talent from Turkey, Egypt, Tunisia , Libya, Gulf regions

15. May be Africa would have been more developed with roads, and resources

You think deep, bro. ME would not be in mess if Turkish Empire had remained intact till today. Lot of people say this. Carving out artificial countries from Turkish Empire was a blunder, in fact, it was a deliberate attempt and policy of Divide and Rule.

Think of the other sides too ;)

- Sheria in effect

- Numerous ethnic identities that may weaken the state reach throughout it's soils and ease of governance.

- A Sultanate that's still being handed over by blood like the Saudi Kingdom...ehemm in the 21st Century.

- Due to huge amount of natural resources, we may not be as hardworking we are.

AFAIK, Turkish football, basketball and volleyball rankings;.

FIBA, Europe ranking: 6th (6th for Women's)
FIBA, World ranking: 8th (10th for Women's)
FIBA Youth Men: 5th in the World and 3th in European continent.

FIVB, Women's Volleyball, 10th in the World and 4th in Europe :yahoo:

UEFA, Europe ranking: 12th
FIFA, World ranking: 21th

Lol..no probs.

I didn't say I was anti-empire. As a matter of fact, I love digging out Ottoman history and it's glories. But history doesnt work like that. It doesn't work with IFs, since the OP did, then you also have to think of the possible negative impacts when altered to 21st century.

.
If the ottoman empire would have survived Turks would be the same as most backward Arabs so thank god this didnt happen.

.
I love my history and i take utmost pride in being a Turk, but the fall of the Ottoman Empire was a positive and neccesary thing no matter how you look at it. If you take a quick climpse at your alternate history, you can already expect massive ethnic tentions and conflict.

You think deep, bro. ME would not be in mess if Turkish Empire had remained intact till today. Lot of people say this. Carving out artificial countries from Turkish Empire was a blunder, in fact, it was a deliberate attempt and policy of Divide and Rule.

Thats a pretty common accepted thruth, there is no conspiracy in that. The artificial borders have directly caused this huge ethnic tention.

My ideal scenario for a grand Turco-Muslim state would be a federation of all states. Something like Russia. Each individual states could retain their own history and identity whilst being part of something much larger. Perhaps autonomous regions that are based on demographs and geopolitics, rather then straight lines.

. .
We don't need the greatest borderline of empire. Today's Turkey + I would like to have Crimea, Kerkuk, Mousul, Aegean islands and Cyprus ( whole ) = Monster Geopolitic Power

Under a democratic system ofcourse...

Actually we could have those borders... :(

This is the real map for Turkey , the honest map

Containing Egypt
Contanining Saudia
Containing UAE
Containing Kuwait
Containing Mecca
Containing Tunisia
Containing Perhaps libya
Conatining Iraq
Containing parts of Iran
Contains Certain Areas of Europe
Containing Yamen
Containing Qatar

That was the realistic borders of the great Turkish land

Can one imagine the $$$ and Federal Reserve Turkey would have had between 50's and 2000's
