Any comment about the last Palmyra attack by ISIS, with 4,000 men driving hundreds of Toyota pickup without being noticed by Syria/Russia/and storming Palmyra and conquering it in two days??

But that's from the US perspective.
From Syria-Russia-Iran perspective, it seems a very alarming defeat, because of the blitzkrieg IS did, and because of the fatal lack of intelligence info (satellite images, etc) from Russia-Iran side.
What happened with Russia&*** satellites and drones watching the region? They didn't see any Toyota pickup coming!!!

No by US. They came from Iraq. The area they used to get to Palmyra was under US coalition airforce cover. I recently posted an article regarding Iran insisting to close the western side of Mosul as well during the siege fearing that the terrorist may flee to Syria and cause such a scenario. I'm not sure how effectively that was done and Mosul is not the only ISIS held city in Iraq. But it seems like they moved from Iraq to Syria and the US coalition didn't do anything about it. Yes but after both Mosul and Aleppo retaken, there won't be a lot of slack for the terrorists.

Hopefully not. Remains to be seen how Syrian can come together and heal. The situation is not worth than Lebanon back in 1980s. Miracles happen.

But your explanation (these IS troops came from Irak, etc etc) does not explain the total lack of awareness of Syria + Russia + Iran from this BIG movement of troops and cars and tanks and BMPs.

In the desert, a 4000 men force with more than 200 vehicles is IMPOSSIBLE to hide (this is not the Afghan mountains, this is open desert!!). It would have been sitting ducks for Russian and Syrian jets and helos!! But...no jet and no helo took off.

Why??? What happened with the satellites and drones and aircrafts, to NOT watch this BIG movement across hundreds of kms of open desert??

To be honest with you, I think the problem is that neither Iran, nor Russia have fully deployed their army in Syria. And Syrian army that is the only major ground force there is spread so thin and was mainly focused on Aleppo.

Reading more articles, it was not a surprise attack as the western media is trying to picture it. There had been armed conflict around that city during last couple of weeks and even, half of the citizens of the city were evacuated before the attack happened. So I think Iranians, Syrians and Russians knew they were coming but could not do much about it because Syria didn't have a sizable force around the city to protect it and as soon as they got to residential areas, Russia's airforce was useless.

However, I heard in RT that they were pushed back and the Syrian government has gained control over the city.
