Air Commodore (R) Sayed Sajad Haider: How the US Evaded Air Defence System

Evading Radars is not that difficult

US has the satellites up in Pakistan airspace , these geological satellites - give a 3D view for mission planners.

The 3D view also displays the areas where normal radar rays would not reach and which areas would be visible

Flying low to ground (Easy for Helicopter) also allows the craft to be undetected

Every radar has a specific range coverage, if the 3D plotter can develop a patch for your craft from position of location of radars and terrain and low flying.

Not to mention the helicopters were also stealth and mission was done in (no moon night)

Technically if you fly a old clunker , low to ground you can remain undetected for long durations of your flight

Watch the video from 4.05m to 4.30m and see the reaction of the journalist . He literally goes dry in his mouth after what he had heard.

Could someone who watched this video ^^ summarize what the general said? Much appreciation to us mono-lingual people. ;)

1. Not a general.. but equivalent to a colonel in the USAF.

2. Mentioned how US helicopters evaded Pakistani radars. Using various techniques such as NoE flight.. and what US jamming capability is(both Radar and communication jamming) and placed doubt on the current chief's statement that the aircraft were late to respond by mentioning the response times of the PAF equipped with F-86's and FPS-20 systems back in the early 60's as better than what the current chief claims today's PAF to be. Narrates an incident relating to a 70's visit by a USAF EW aircraft wherby as a demonstration the USAF aircraft jammed the then Pakistani radars via noise jamming and flew into the airspace undetected.

3. Vis a Vis India.. on the journalists question, he relates that India holds back due to the PAF's capability, which he states is potent enough to set back India a decade or so in military and other infrastructure in the event of a conflict. At the same time, he states that Indian aircraft such as the Sukhoi's could use their massive range extended by refuellers to strike pakistani targets from the southwest ..bypassing the eastern defenses by flying along the coast.
He also states that an attack by India on Pakistani cities under the lieu of going after terrorists will not only get through Pakistani defenses , it will also be lauded by the International community as just.

In the nutshell.. I think I got everything.

.
I don't think it would be lauded, because international community knows that any such action by india would be analagous to war and we would respond right back to the indians before they even landed on the ground

Yes there is no drought that USA is most powerful country in the world. This is the childish thing to think that we can fight against her, just like a wish from Iraqis or tali bans. Where are those Iraqis now ?? Technology always plays a vital role in both the cases of Iraq & Afghanistan.

The last time i read, Colonel Zoltan Dani, who shot down F-117, was running a Bakery.......PAF might want to consider hiring him.

Thats an entirely different case,a brilliant case where you can still effectively use an older technology to counter a new one though...
He employed numerous techniques to evade from being spotted by the enemy and to shoot down the enemy aircrafts. He and his team was constantly on the move to evade enemy attack. Also he used a chain of human spotters to find out from which direction the enemy aircrafts usually come. This reduced his area of focus by great margin,as the attacking aircrafts usually followed more or less same flight pattern. His idea was to shoot down the aircraft while they are returning, when they are low on fuel.he did not keep his radars switched on 24/7 which would have made him a HARM magnet. He switched on his radars only when it was confirmed by spies/spotters that an enemy aircraft is present in his sector, calculated the time interval after which the aircraft may be within range, and switched on his radars only when it is close, giving it very less time to react. An aircraft maybe stealth, that means it is hard to detect, not undetectable....

If he was an American he would be a General by now!!
