Edit: Re-opening thread.
Please keep your discussions polite and respectful towards others.
Stay away from insults, otherwise you will get a warning/ban.
It was just part of Chinese history. No way, although Chinese historical books are filled with the racism, specially against the nomad and tropical dark natives, political correctness don't allow books or newspapers mentioned these content publicly nowadays. I disagree with you, but impossible we edit our ancient books, it is too hard a job.
Whichever way you look at it, it is a racist comment. But I guess in oriental culture, it is OK to be suspicious by generalizing. I have worked in a Korean behemoth. Many of my friends also worked in chinese, japanese companies. And we all had a common opinion - they do not trust people of other nationalities at all, and have a strong opinion for all south asians. But they do not even realize that. It is like, they are tuned for it culturally.
Don't get me wrong. I am not saying they are racist. I am saying that they don't even know that some of the things that they do or say, can be racially offending to others.
It's London's problem of course. But Air China should apologise. This is not a racial issue, it is a question of urban management.
nothing wrong with the tourist company wanting to protect their Chinese customers
Exactly, I couldn't agree more, but since Indians and Pakistanis are pretty much in every country, may I suggest Chinese tourist avoid the World.
Exactly.Bro, let's be clear Pakistanis reputation certainly is impacted by Indian. The West medias often report Indian gang rape, descripe them as rutting thing, this is truth. Sometimes Pakistanis really look similar to Indian, others can't tell them if they don't know each other. Anyway, I once came across Pakistanis in China. I found a old man (maybe 60 year old), he seemed lost the way, I asked where he was from. I was glad to lead him the direction after hearing he came from Pakistan. I hope you won't be influenced by this news. Air China intend to protect his service users, you know, right?
Exactly.
It is advisable for Pakistani in China to claim nationality first, otherwise some narrow-minded people will regard tourists as the nationals of some other country (To the majority in China, South Asian people look the same). I am always willing to help Pakistani tourists or students in China. My family lives inside a university campus in Wuhan, I know some international students. Pakistani international students can definitely feel like home here.
I've been living in the teachers' community which is located inside a university campus since I was born...Well done. You live in university campus, I guess you have more chance to come across Pakistanis. Actually they are worth to the kind reception, they treat Chinese living in Pakistan well, and all Pakistanis I met in China are polite and friendly. These are my personal experiences.
I've been living in the teachers' community which is located inside a university campus since I was born...
Though I've moved a lot, only from one building to another bigger one inside the campus.....
My dad always invites his students to our home for dinner and sport games.
They sometimes babysit me when I was a small kid....so that my parents could go out.
I played with my bigger friends when I was young.
Now, I can travel around China for free, those students treat me at their hometown.
you are one funny racist. Chinese chinese, yes papa. Looking at something, no papa. Telling a lie, no papa. "open your eyes"...hahaha
Well said.To all Pakistani posters,
I don't think for one second that Chinese people percieve Pakistani people as potential criminals. In fact we all know that Chinese government and Pakistan has a long lasting arrangement about a mutual defense treaty. Meaning China is ready to enter a war if Pakistan is attacked. Now if Chinese people see Pakistani people as potential criminals, why the hell would they be ready to give their lives with you?
China is the only major country that believes in a prosperous Pakistan. You know better then I do that the Western media shows Pakistan as a bad example of a Muslim majority country. Like "country x will become like Pakistan if it goes like this". I know this because such remarks are made for Turkey. Turkey under AKP will become like Pakistan they say. It's like Pakistan is hell and they say Turkey become like hell. Meanwhile Chinese government signs CPEC and investing literally hundereds of billions of dollars to Pakistan for a better future while those politcally correct westerners are insulting you like that.
They say don't go to minority neighbourhoods when you're in London. US arrested a German-Turkish citizen for simply visiting Pakistan after 9/11. You choose which one is politically correct. One side doesn't say anything bad and always talks with carefully chosen words, but thinks visiting Pakistan means you're terrorist. The other one speaks more bluntly (maybe), but ready to die side by side when the time comes.
Actions speak louder then words. Don't fall into the illusions of US regime.
Of course it is not about Pakistan.I blame the Western media for making an elephant out of a mosquito issue which have led to the misconception regretfully. In recent years too many horror rape stories originating from India has made the world look at Indians in a different perspective. Pakistan members should not be discouraged by the news, the warning part on the magazine should have shown a bit more consideration. Unfortunately recent terrorist attacks or rising crimes in certain parts of Europe have prompted the company issuing precautions for taking a walk at night or touring around in broad daylight. Robbery, rapes, harassment and murder are not uncommon in Europe. So Iron brothers don't feel offended, it's not targeting you guys or any specific race. We have seen how Chinese tourists got mugged in Paris these past few years, so we must be careful when travel around.
