Pakistani authorities have arrested two Ahmadi Muslim men for alleged Blasphemy.

Bookstore owner Abul Shukoor and manager Mazhar Ahmad were arrested Wednesday, Dec. 2 from Ahmadiyya Book Depot in Rabwah. Both men were taken to an unknown location after their arrest.
According to a leaked charge sheet the men were charged under section 298-C of Pakistan's Penal code. The infamous law prevents members of Ahmadiyya sect from preaching and calling themselves Muslim.

In a surprising turn of events, the two men have also been charged under Pakistan's Anti Terrorism Act (ATA) of 1997 for the crime of selling books published by the minority Ahmadiyya community. The men have been booked under Provision 8 of ATA which carries a prison sentence of up to seven years and under section 298-C they can face an additional three years in jail.

This is not the first time Shukoor has been targeted by the authorities, Earlier this year in January Shukoor was harassed and his store vandalized by local police. In 1974, Shakoor's opticial shop in Sargodha, Punjab was ransacked and looted along with his house. In 1985 he was charged with blasphemy under article 298c for claiming his Ahmadi belief. In 1990 he was given a three year prison sentence after a local Khatme Nabuwwat cleric filed a complaint against him for wearing a ring with a Quranic inscription.

This has come as a shock to the local Ahmadiyya Muslim Community who are often times victims of terror attacks. The provision 8 of the anti-terrorism act was designed to stop sectarian hatred against minorities like the Ahmadiyya but is being increasingly used by extremist clerics to target members of the Ahmadiyya sect.

In 1974, Pakistan declared the Ahmadiyya sect to be non-Muslim through a constitutional amendment, since then the Ahmadis have faced severe persecution both by the state and by local extremist groups like Khatm-e-Nabuwat.

Islam is believing in unity of ALLAH and that HOLY PROPHET MUHAMMAD P.B.U.H is his ""LAST"" messenger/Prophet.
You add some thing with unity of Allah, you are gone.
You place some one after Muhammad P.B.U.H , you are gone..

And they Claim Mirza Ghulam Ahmad (malghoon) to be the Prophet after Muhammad P.B.U.H... so Govt of Pakistan through it's Constitution and Sharia Law declared them as NoN-Muslim Pakistani's...

Now there Agenda is that they still call them self Muslim's ( which they are not ) , and preach there own (made in china) islam through preaching and publishing book's, arranging meetings with other "true believer's to some how convert them..

i don't know the constitutional position of Shia's , so can't comment on that. but All those shia and Ahmadi's are my brother's and Pakistani's... But Ahmadi's need to stop preaching made in china Islam as they are not muslims. and harming islam BTW

I don't get it, they believe in Allah, they celebrate eid (do they?).. believe in the holy quraan, what's the problem ? It should be ok if they also revere some saint. I'm guessing the sufis probably don't have a problem with them.. why are most of Pakistani sunnis so rigid and Saudi like ?

Ahmedis are muslims, you people shouldn't fall into the same trap as the middle east with all this bs, I think promoting more sufiism should be the way forward.. sufis are like the hippies, full of peace, love, music and dance

the basic Four things/elements/pillars/faith's of Islam is,
You believe in Allah.
You believe in his Unity.
You believe that Muhammad P.b.u.h is the Prophet of Allah.
You believe that there will be no Messenger/prophet After Muhammad P.b.u.h..
If a person is opposing the basic faith of Islam how can i call him a muslim. ?

No one here is doubting there Patriotism. but they are refusing to follow Constitution of Pakistan.
They can preach there religion. i don't think there is any problem in that. but with some other name. not Islam.

No they don't beleive on Quran their book is different...Kindly do some research yourself before beleiving on whatever people say....
