Of course you are, what does Buddhism, Jainism & large parts of Hinduism got to do with God. They are either dismissive or contemptuous of the idea of God.

Exactly this is why i said religion is very basic, for your whole life you tend to follow the rituals and not the things which actually needs to be done.

Of course!

One is entirely fictional, without any shred of evidence. A figment of human imagination born out of fear of the unknown.

The other, was created to serve the former and in due process has come to signify an important instrument/tool to control masses.

The point is, one can believe in God without any need for 'religion'. Religion cannot exist without God(s).

I do still pay respect to my ancestors, and to Chinese deities, but that is for cultural reasons.

I don't actually believe they exist. It is more to do with culture and rituals.

Is China still a Buddhist majority Country, or atheism gaining popularity there recently? Have seen many Japanese in Bodh Gaya, but not much Chinese.

Atheism scares me the sense of nothingness is one of my worse fears.

The vast majority of Chinese people are non-religious. Including myself.

My parents though practice Buddhism. Though Buddhism is techically Atheist too, since Buddha specifically rejected the idea of a Creator God.

Not 100% true Buddah said whether God exist or not is not the concern but the real aim is to reach Nirvana

I am an atheist because I still not able to understand the concepts of GOD.

I only believe in concepts of Karma and Dharma.

I feel some what awkward when the human who believe, he was created and by GOD goes to temple or any religious place for forgiveness, asking for wealth e.t.c.

Speaking about religion there is a saying "Religion is flawed because man is flawed".
