Afghanistan: As US retreats, India needs plan B

India can make Plan B, Plan C, Plan D. The outcome in Afghanistan will never work in India's favor. Our ISI knows every place in Afghanistan inside out. Once the U.S. leaves Afghanistan, Pak and Afghan Mujahideen will go back to what they were doing before 2001, giving indians headache in India Occupied Kashmir.

India can have Plan [B to Z] for Afghanistan , but the fact is that all of them are bound to fail. India will be made to run " tail in " from the mountains of Afghanistan.
we are not sending our army there just wining there hearts and minds through development and keeping an eye on you know who

You can win the hearts and minds of people will absolutely no power in their country, but can you win the hearts and minds of Afghan Mujahideens (the people with the real power in Afghanistan who have defeated almost every superpower who invaded their land). NEVER !!!

Even U.S. knows that Afghan Taliban will determine Afghanistan's future thats why they so desperately are seeking contact with Afghan Taliban. Those Afghan Taliban are very stubborn and dont get bribed by money, so U.S., Israel, and India will fail in their plans for Afghanistan.

Well what Pakistanis have lost to gain strategic depth in Afghanistan is strategic partnership with US. That relationship is absolutely transactional now. The India centric security policy is failing even after so much has been sacrificed since 2001. Let me tell the Pakistanis here what they've lost on the strategic front while trying to secure Afghanistan (which they haven't yet and time will tell will they ever) -
1. India now hold strategic relations with US, Russia and Israel. We've JVs or are given tech that's for the closest of allies.
2. Terrorism ( or what you refer as the freedom struggle ) in Kashmir is at its lowest point since late 1980s. Tourism has returned to Kashmir in a big way this year.
3. India's relations with Europe have improved dramatically. We have access to their best tech as well.

What has Pakistan lost since 2001?

Pakistan is getting more and more isolated in the world.
Terrorism has gripped Pakistan and is now spreading to the heartland of Pakistan.
Jihad has now come home.
Sectarianism is at all time high and people are getting even more intolerant.
Economy is booming at 2-2.5% p.a. while population is growing at 2.1%

LOL.. cant manage Pakistan, want to manage Afghanistan ..

Plan A was the wet dream which is as usual for any indian politicians.

Akhand Bharat by annexation of Pakistan or at-least reducing it to a Indian vassal state.

Pakistan is expanding its ties with China, Iran, Sri Lanka, Saudi Arabia & other nations.

Terrorism has gripped Pakistan and is now spreading to the heartland of Pakistan.

Terrorism is decreasing, is only confined to the Western border regions of Pakistan. 90% of Pakistan is free from terrorism.

Economy is booming at 2-2.5% p.a. while population is growing at 2.1%

Pakistan's population growth rate is 1.57%

It will be more like plan "F" and is totally F***ed as any Indian presence when the US leaves will be followed by an Indian retreat very hastly.....no matter how big the talk is today.

It is abit like when Tony Blair went to Afghanistan and asked one of the Governors as to how long they think it will take the Taliban to gain soem power in Afghanistan after ISAF leaves, hoping he would say months or years, and was shocked when he got told "24 hours" loooool, that is the state of Afghanistan.......

Taliban will never allow an Indian presence and Pakistan for sure will have a field day with Indians there, as we all know their ulterior motives, just as though every Indian neighbour knows about India.

It will go back to the old ways where a Northern Alliance will be formed and India with Russia will support it, only problem is, the people in the North no longer want any of the past episodes and the Taliban, are and have shown to be uncompromising, truly to their word........

Love to see India remain in Afghanistan though, would love it................. Operation BharatiJanaza to begin

In the mean time, India can continue using all its resources it can to destablise Pakistan as much as they can, when the US leaves, India as a whole will be a new playground for the ISI.

The Indian worked in balochistan during the Soviet occupation of Pakistan, although most attacks were limited to Blaochistan, a lot of others were carried out inside Pakistan

Pakistan responded with an uprising in IOK, and most attacks were limited to the valleys of IOK but some inside India.

India has now gone the full monty, with the whole of Pakistan

I think the ISI should also go the full monty now, for Pakistan it is a case of survival, for India, when the US episode concludes in Afghanistan, it will be one for theirs....God willing.....

lol, I laugh at the American and Indian members who posted here!

They know they have lost, and they are going to lose,

For America:

1) America will no longer be a Superpower.

2) America will lose it's influence in Asia, leaving a region free from America's influence, meaning Asia will be the heart of the resistance against western nations.

3) India will completely lose in Afghanistan, and is bottled up by having three enemies: Pakistan, China, and Nepal.

And the cherry on top is that, Russia will have to choose between India or Pakistan. For China chooses Pakistan, and China wants Iranian oil.

China can easily form a bloc with the Central Asian Republics, Pakistan, and Afghanistan. It's up to China to make this work.

Russia will have to choose Pakistan and China over India in order to be part of something bigger and better.

Pakistan never had a strategic partnership with the US and the entire concept of strategic depth in Afghanistan was a non-starter in the way most understand it to be.

India having best tech means nothing when there are insurgencies in so many parts of India and having ebbed in certain parts does not mean that they cannot come and disrupt stability in the future.

Yes it is true that India has better relations with the three you listed, however Pakistan's location means that it cannot remain ignored for too long despite all of the attempts to isolate the country. India has tried to isolate Pakistan many times in the past and has failed. In the future too, things won't change much.

Pakistan too has to fix a lot internally. Its in a mess and I think the younger generation is realizing this very rapidly.
