Fascinating to see the clear and sharp differentiation in Pakistani opinion, and these aren't clowns on the fringe, some of them are very well-regarded members.

It is hugely encouraging to see the clear rebuff to this call by religious fanatics by a section; melancholy to see the usual suspects on the other side.

you do know this Guy Sami ul HAQ is the teacher of Mullah Omar, and his stand on Afghan Taliban remained unshaken over the years that they are fighting foreign invasion . this remind of a similar statement of TTP leader i guess ( bait ullah Mehsood ) after 26/11 Mumbai attacks to India over the tense situation that, TTP will side with Pakistani forces in case of Indian Attack, these statements are to target a certain people, who have small % of sympathy to the cause of Taliban , now a chunck on our people will see these Statements as the holy support from the Mujhadeen's from the western Borders .
unfortunately this sami ul haq guy still enjoy the huge public support in Pakistan, and even our Establishment is reluctant to put their hands on these black-mailing Mullah's .

I see your point, although obviously I don't agree with your objectives. You do understand that I am all for giving Afghanistan on a platter to India (not until we change our governing polity, however).

Then you will give Afghanistan to India in plate = One India on east, one on west.

It will still be easy to deal with them rather than these people who can/will switch their loyalties for just a few more $$$ and stab us in the back our country has suffered enough already i just want my country's name to be separated from these groups and any type of relations it's high time we start building our shattered image in the world and we can't do that as long as we're associated with these groups.

What Americans fail to understand and this could be consequence of superpower hubris is that everybody is like them. Pakistan just like USA has it's interests. As much as Washington would not contract out or let Islamabad define what Americas interests are the same applies with equal vigour to Pakistan. Islamabad will not allow USA to decide what Pakistan's interests are or contract them out to Washington. The world does not revolve around Washington.

To put it bluntly Pakistan is not going to let Afghanistan fall entirely to India or at least even if ut happens Pakistan will do it's best to act as a spoiler. And if you have difficulty understanding why Islamabad has issues with New Delhi trust me so do we have difficulty. Like why the hell does USA not make up and kiss Tehran and the mullahs? Or why the hell does USA not dump Israel and make peace and love with Syria, Iran or Cuba. Now please don't go off giving reasons. I already know you have reasons which I don't agree with but that is besides the point. In the exact way Pakistan has reasons for it's rivalry with India even if you don't or choose not to understand them. You may even call them petty in exactly the way I think US behaviour toward tiny Cuba has been a synonym for "pettiness".

I saw this interview of Gen. Durrani on BBC and frankly I was impressed by his honesty. He efectively said everybody - USA, Pakistan, Russia, Iran, India, China etc have got their proxies inside Afghanistan chasing their interests. For that he got booed. He was only being candid.

People need to understand the Afghan Taliban has never been aggressive against Pakistan. They have also not supported TTP or ISIS. Thier alliance with Al Queda was merely for money, they wanted rid of them but only in a face saving way. They are our only ally in Afghanistan and have the support of the mainstream population in Afghanistan.

Why don't they separate phustoons areas and work for a merger with Pakistanis in return for autonomy.
