Yes they were no angels , my country supported no one at first instead trying to stabilize the country by asking different factions to work together and compromise , it was only when NA turned anti-Pakistan and was helped by our enemy that we started to openly supported Taliban because frankly no country will allow anyone to work against its interest ... Taliban regime had no foreign support of weapons, they had enough war booty.

Why was Iran so enemy of Taliban, that it did not differentiated between Taliban official and common Pashtoon, after American carpet bombing.

The role of US , Pakistan and Saudi Arabia during the Soviet invasion are well known ... All worked together against Soviets at that time ... US and Saudi Arabia actually provided that money for the very purpose ... What sort of jokes are you making here by claiming it was " siphoned " ? After that , do you mean the time when US suddenly received enlightenment from fallen angels that Pakistan was pursuing nuclear programme and overnight sanction were imposed ? Would the US officials be impartial at that time ? I do not think so ! Neutral sources do tell us that Afghanistan always lacked coherence as a nation , it was just a land of different factions and warlords fighting for their chance to rise to power nothing else ... We border that so called country so we had to try to keep it stable , we tried asking those warlords to come to some sort of compromise , what exactly could Islamabad get from a burning Afghanistan is beyond me ! But things changed , when other countries decided to jump in , Mullah Omar got ISI's assistance only when you tried to poke your nose in Kabul by aiding NA - the last thing we wanted was an anti-Pakistani Afghanistan ... Just because Taliban ascended to power doesn't make NA a hero ... Pakistan had chosen the " lesser of two evils " ...
