Afghan media: Pakistani helicopter crash-lands in Logar, 6 on board captured

I am not an expert of Mi17s but I have flown across Afghanistan and even with an aux fuel tanks it is still a big stretch to fly from Pak to Russia with a Heli
Nor am I but as my little knowledge says with 2 aux tanks it can cover 1000+km and it can have 4 aux.

. . .
nothing happened, afghans on twitter were celebrating and were saying it was carrying supplies for talibs and was destroyed by the forces.
bitch ana doesn't even know how to use aa.

Okay news just in.
The heli was of Cm punjab. It had 1 Russians and 6 Pakistani Crew were onboard was going for repair to Russia/Kazakhstan.The crew is being held hostage by the locals.
Sadly the heli was set on fire by the babons.

it had taken permission to fly over AFG.
Why would a helicopter carrying supplies for Talis be shot down and then burnt by Talis?

. .

If true good, let every Pakistani know the real face of these Afgans, the sooner the better. I think we should ask them to pack up their bags and start leaving.

This is terrible. How could a Punjab Helicopter land in Afghanistan.

I hope all the crew are safe and sound. Hope Pakistan govt. get the innocent souls released fast.

Pakistani helicopter crash-lands in Logar, 6 on board captured
By KHAAMA PRESS - Thu Aug 04 2016, 4:13 pm

A Pakistani helicopter has crash-landed in the central Logar province of Afghanistan earlier today, the provincial council officials said.

A member of the provincial council Dr. Abdul Wali Wakil said the helicopter crash-landed in the restive Azra district and all 6 on board were captured by the militants.

Provincial governor’s spokesman Salim Saleh has confirmed to RFE that the helicopter belonged to Pakistan and crash-landed in Mati area of Azra district.

He said the helicopter caught fire as soon as it crash-landed but the passengers on board did not suffer any casualties.

A local resident has said the helicopter was set on fire by the Taliban militants as soon as it made an emergency landing.

The Taliban militants group has not commented regarding the report so far.

Taliban militants and insurgents belonging to the other militant groups are actively operating in a number of the remote districts of Logar province.

However it is yet not clear on what purposes the Pakistani helicopter was hovering over the Afghan air space in central Logar province which is located close to capital Kabul.

ISLAMABAD: A Punjab government Mi-17 helicopter crash landed on Thursday in Afghanistan’s Logar province where Taliban insurgents took the crew hostage before setting the helicopter on fire.

DawnNews reported the helicopter had seven people onboard at the time of the incident, and was on its way for maintenance to Uzbekistan.

Afghanistan’s TOLO News, however, reported the helicopter belonged to Pakistan military.

Quoting spokesman for Logar province’s governor, it said that the helicopter crashed in the Mati area of Azra district.

As you can see from the link below two auxiliary tanks can add to the range quite significantly. These tanks are seen regularly in Pakistani Mi-17s. It is not a stretch that an Mi-17 can cover 900 km with fuel to spare. And that is assuming a nonstop flight from Peshawar to Bukhara.

"The Mi-17V-5 has a maximum speed of 250km/h, and a standard range of 580km, which can be extended to 1,065km when fitted with two auxiliary fuel tanks."

EDIT: The crash location would suggest the flight took off from Parachinar perhaps.

So basically from Pakistan to Russia is only 800 kms, that is even much less than Lahore to Karachi.

.
Those clowns who making fun of Afghan sources should apologies now.

The Heli was Pakistani.

Dawn quoted the same :)
Lol no one denied that... but afg army claims it's assisting talibans while it was going for repair with Russian navigator inside lol means Russians are also involved
ROFL is that afg army sources looks now like sister sources of Indian media
