Stop saying engineers. They were technicians. Engineers doesn't fix aircraft, technicians do.
And just because it was going for "repairs" doesn't mean it was "broken". All aircraft go through scheduled inspection regardless of their airworthiness. This one was probably going for a letter check. I still can't believe a country that boasts about building airplanes in house doesn't have the capability to overhaul it's aircraft. If it was going for some major mods that's a different story, but if it was just a case of regular maintenance, we should be doing that in house
