Stop saying engineers. They were technicians. Engineers doesn't fix aircraft, technicians do.
And just because it was going for "repairs" doesn't mean it was "broken". All aircraft go through scheduled inspection regardless of their airworthiness. This one was probably going for a letter check. I still can't believe a country that boasts about building airplanes in house doesn't have the capability to overhaul it's aircraft. If it was going for some major mods that's a different story, but if it was just a case of regular maintenance, we should be doing that in house

Ali you are right its not Mi-17, as posted close up picture. its "Ukrainian Helicopters Aviation Company Mi-8MTV-1" later used by UN Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA), and crashed backed in oct, 2012

Firstly,it isnt "it's aircraft" it is of Russian/Ukrainian origin. This Type/version isn't operated by pak army so had to go for a routine checkup at kazan it also went there back in 2011/12.

Engineers can make assessment that Aircraft can make 1000 KM flight and on that assessment pilots tries to take aircraft for repairs or services, it saves time and money.

If it was Mi8/17 why didn't they perform it in house. Pakistan army is surely capable enough to perform that in house now
