Abrarul Haq’s Chamkeeli challenged in court
Muhammad Qurban
December 18, 2019
A petition has been filed in Lahore’s civil court against singer Abrarul Haq for his latest wedding song Chamkeeli.
The petition, submitted by lawyer Rana Adnan Asghar, stated that the song is promoting a “disrespectful” attitude for men and women and therefore, it should be removed from YouTube. He also wants the singer to apologise for the song.
The track features Mehwish Hayat as Chamkeeli, an excited bride who has come to groom YouTube star Shahveer’s place for his rukhsati. Asghar claims that the song ridiculed the men.
The hearing of the case has been adjourned till December 20.
Haq dropped Chamkeeli on December 7.

According to the claim filed in civil court, the song is an insult to both men and women.
Remember Abrar-ul-Haq's track that just came out this month which featured Mehwish Hayat as a super cool bride?
A petitioner, Adv Rana Adnan Asghar, has filed a claim against the song 'Chamkeeli' in civil court, Lahore. According to the claim, the song is an insult to both men and women. The courts have been requested to ban the track, removing it from YouTube.
"Men were humiliated by Abrar ul Haq on December 7... Not only men but women were also humiliated in the song," stated Adv Rana Adnan Asghar.
Civil Judge Ziaur Rahman has adjourned the hearing till December 21, seeking response from Abrar-ul-Haq, PEMRA and others.
The singer's other tunes such as 'Nach Punjaban Nach' also came under similar criticism. Previously, his rendition of 'Billo De Ghar' for Coke Studio was also taken down due to alleged copyright issues.
Abrar-ul-Haq has yet to comment on the matter.

You mean your village? When I was a child in 80s, The "Lara" (groom) used to wear boski shalwar qameez with qulla safa or qulla cap and the "vauti" (bride) used to wear "gotay wali laal shalwar qameez".
THAT has been there in many villages...Maybe yours lacked customs?turbans
