it is time to wake up and end the reactive mode of operation. the enemy is still striking ( albeit with lesser intensity ) and STILL has secure bases in Afghanistan and Iran. the enemy is exploiting every gap available. its sleeper cells randomly activate and strike targets with impunity and cause first strike damage

2. suicide bomber sent to lhr, attacks an unsuspecting police van

3. the apparently missing persons turn up at PC gwadar and wreck mayhem. we lose 2 x guards And a navy commando



ISPR should stop apologizing. we dont need songs or tweets praising the dead commandos. we need blood. simple as that.

One reason for that appears to be that we have got this country, freedom and independence, without making much sacrifice and struggle, for it, at the public level. Therefore, we hardly value it. Fundamentally, this country came into being, owing to the unique political insight, manipulations and maneuvers of Quaid e Azam. Our elite and high ups, including politicians, generals, judges, bureaucrats, intellectuals and others, obviously come from the same society and, therefore, are as characterless and self centered, rather more, being cream of this worthless society.

It is obvious to see that the overall quality (exceptions aside) of people going into the civil service and military officer ranks has continued to go down drastically.

In the 60s, 70s and 80s, many sons of top bureaucrats and army officers started to get lured by the amazing economic boom of the time. Almost any new business you could set up would do well as there was little to no competition. Those with worldly exposure and an intellectual upbringing started to avoid the services. The services, for their part, utterly failed to develop mechanisms to find/attract/select top candidates. What resulted was --- and this may be offensive to many, but I frankly don't care --- a bunch of (essentially) village folk having recently arrived in big cities (or perhaps not even that) taking over. Just because they learned English, have some family in the UK and have visited Dubai twice, they thought they were as exposed, culturally informed and intellectually nuanced as the earlier crop. NEWS FLASH: they were and are not!

To be clear, I am not suggesting that speaking English is some kind of measure of how patriotic or effective someone can be for the country; rather that the intellectual growth that comes from studying at the world's best universities, having parents who are culturally informed and who understand fallacies of logic, moral relativism and nuances, etc., cannot be made up for.

What we now see is no shortage of patriots --- but a shortage of patriots in the right posts who have the right mindset. When mediocrity rules, bad ideas are considered masterful revelations. Dangerous times.

India is facing the same situation but in a much more severe manner. The opportunities in India are immense and the armed forces is a tough and not so financially attractive option.
The difference is that now Modi has disturbed the status quo. He is not letting the defence forces rest, for whatever reasons, and is preparing them for a more offensive posture. If modi wins, a serious conflict is a given in the next 5 years. As another mass casualty event in the Indian security forces will immediately precipitate it.
