What's new

A curious question!

Sighting the Moon is symbolic. From esoteric perspective we are instructed by the Mystic Master to witness the inner shining, that is enlightenment of heart, symbolized by the emergence of light of the new Moon.

The Prophet (PBUH) said: "... whoever fasts during Ramadan out of sincere faith and hoping to attain God's rewards, then all his past sins and negativity will be forgiven." The exercise of a whole month of fasting along with other spiritual practices, moves one to reach that state of innocence when one’s heart shines like a beautiful new moon adorning the sky.

So seeing the Moon is not the issue at all. It is just symbolic. It's actually the inner light that starts shining within you after the fasting which is important.

Bhai Sahib are you trying to teach our religion to us ? o_O

Explain to me how are you right, even one time if the basic argument is to celebrate Eid with Arabs, are you Arabs or is your land a part of Arabia? What is it that causes people to go haywire and accept the Mullahs decision to see the moon without seeing it en masse? A few mistakes here and there, but there is more science, co-ordination and accountability within the central committee. Its called official for a reason and yes it will increase your Pakistaniyat. Don't downplay the issue there, its a national issue if a certain province is celebrating the Eid always one day before the rest of the countrymen.
When did I mention the Arabs ? Nobody even mentioned Arabs here neither did the mullahs as you'd like to think . Everything does not revolve around them . Its been a tradition and a custom here for a very long time , the local mosques have followed the few lead mosques/muallhs here for generations , our mosque in village still gets a call if its eid or not from the gathering area? Why must everything be seen as a challenge to "Pakistaniyat" ? I'm all up for putting a leash on the mullahs but come on stop digging quarrels where there are naught ? Eid never was and never has been a national issue , there is no ruling to celebrate Eid with the whole country . So that begs the question why do you want to change a harmless custom/tradition? If you want to celebrate it together so badly a little diplomacy on your part will be great ? Why doesn't the Official committee invite the mullahs for the moon sighting ? Perhaps that might shut them or atleast its worth a try then always acting aloof?

.
Your religion? Do only Pakistanis have the right to practice Islam? Are they the only Muslims in the world? Are there no Muslims in India?

Nuff said. I don't have to elucidate.

I was speaking as a Muslim !

What would you know about the exoteric or the esoteric dimensions of Islam ?

.
Eid must be celebrated by all Pakistanis on the same day; a Nation that can't even celebrate a festival such as Eid together is not worthy of being called a Nation but rather a disparate group of reluctant partners forced into a marriage that neither of them likes - That affects Pakistaniyat !
No it does not , not at all ? Stop seeing everything as a threat to your version of Pakistaniyat !

For once you know hes actually right ! Religion is much more then all the practices and stuff , there is a lot of symbolism and philosophy to it! Don't worry God isn't that petty !

btw why are u acting like a mulllah ?

If the whole country will celebrate Eid tomorrow, after actually seeing the moon, how exactly do a group of people sight the moon, when no moon can possibly be seen with reports coming in till midnight to Mullahs, despite meteorological evidence confirming the impossibility of such a thing happening? After the beginning of Ramadan, it isn't possible for the moon to be visible for the next 29 days, so how do they see the moon if it isn't there in the first place? What is the solution to upholding the writ of the state and actually celebrating Eid with Pakistanis and not Arabs?
