76% Pakistanis refuse to leave Pakistan for greener pastures

. .
I agree, but that isn't the topic.

Love your name by the way, loved the movie as well, it was great.
You know it's all tongue in cheek 🤣
There's not one of us on PDF ( I hope) who wouldn't give there all for the motherland and religion even if that meant the ultimate sacrifice Ameen

Expats would happily invest in Pakistan or atleast have childern get earlier education from Pakistan.
BUT Pakistani society is corrupt to its core and only people with power are the law so other countries with its own issues are better option for future

.
That's great to see.
Anyone know what the comparable surveys are for Indian and Chinese folk?
Given an option, 76% would chose to settle up abroad, for socio economic status. Speaking about Indians not Chinese

I would say at least 70% of Indians (i.e. the rural population) will want to stay in India. Not because they are highly patriotic or optimistic, but simply because they won't have the skills (technical and language) to do anything worthwhile abroad. They are more likely to migrate to urban Indian centres.

Regarding urban Indians, there has been a huge shift (from anecdotal evidence) in mindset. For well educated and hard working folks there is plenty of work in India. The large population makes many business ideas viable and more people are now returning after completing their studies abroad.

Two decades ago when I graduated, it was a big deal to get a white collar job abroad. I myself tried a lot, not because there was anything wrong with my Indian job, but simply because I felt left behind. As if a stamp of approval was missing without that foreign stint. Over the years I made peace with it and now I don't want to migrate at all. I am happy in India and will not settle abroad. It is a great comfort to be among your people and the culture you grew up in, if your life is half as privileged.

KARACHI: As many as 76pc Pakistanis across the entire social spectrum, age and political divide refused to leave the country for greener pastures even if they got an opportunity, whereas 24pc were happy to move on given a better chance. Of those refusing to leave the home country, 79pc were PPP voters, 75pc PTI and 73pc were PMLN supporters.
Can someone please kindly explain this math to me?
Clearly Edexcel and my engineering degree failed to teach me maths.

So that readers of the post do not misunderstand, could you please clarify that you are referring to the article itself, and not the data contained within. Thanks.
No, the data is collected via surveys, records etc.
Then the whole data is fed into website or government office department.
After this phase that data is observed by data scientists ( like me in future). Who then use very sophisticated mathematical & computer algorithms to display those facts you read in the article. Now the article itself could be A.I. written by computer program or an human. By the looks of it is the algorithm.

As the situation improves in Pakistan, there will be less incentive to leave Pakistan, and more incentives to stay in Pakistan.

That means that 24% would like to move abroad. That would be more than 50 million people. That’s huge.

The figure doesn’t tell us where these people live, rural or urban, or their educational or socioeconomic status. If there are more ‘leavers’ in the higher strata of society then that would represent a very big potential loss.

Already Pakistan has suffered a huge brain drain with millions of educated professionals and businessmen having left. These are the people who would have built the country if it was properly governed.

These figures are worrying. It would have been positive if more Pakistanis were returning, but that’s not happening. Someone needs to do a poll to find out how many overseas Pakistanis are seriously planning to return.

After 9/11, I heard many Pakistanis have moved back to Pakistan.

Thank you for clarifying.
I already had an understanding, but people can easily take away a different meaning, hence my request.
Stay blessed.

Every survey does not cover every single aspect, unless its an in-depth study. But your point is valid, perhaps, next time they will expand the survey.

I wouldn't say it is worrying, you'll find in every developing nation on earth the percentages of people wanting to leave for greener pastures are very likely to be higher.

I fail to see why you are confused.
Please read again and you will understand, but since you did not, I'll explain.

The survey provided an overall figure,
within the survey, they asked people about their political affiliations,
amongst the people who said they support these parties, those are the percentage purely from those groups.

There's an an overall figure,
Plus, these are the figures regarding person's to expressed political affiliation with these parties.
There would have been other people who said they support other parties, or do not support any party, clearly that figure would be different.

I hope you understand now, and don't worry your degree did not go to waste, you just failed to read clearly. Also, please understand that English is not the first language in Pakistan.
