It took you over 20 years and massive cost overruns to build a short stretch linking Seoul(meaning 1st among a group of depressed places or coves or hollows in Chinese and Korean)and Busan。Your imported French-made TVGs have had to cope with defect tracks、tofu-bridges、emergency stopages and derailments in tunnels。:mod:

BEIJING, September 26, 2012

China is set to complete a strategically significant 253-km rail link from Lhasa to Shigatse, near its border with Nepal, by 2014 — a year ahead of schedule.

Railway authorities say the rail link, which is an extension of the Qinghai-Tibet railway, will be completed in two years’ time and will have an annual freight capacity of 8.3 million tonnes, as reported by state-run Xinhua news agency.

China began construction on the rail line — half of it on bridges and in tunnels through the mountains of Tibet — in 2010. The line will also run through the Grand Canyon of the Brahmaputra, or Yarlung Zangbo as it is known in Tibet.

Last month, officials said they were working to correct structural defects they had discovered on the Lhasa-Shigatse line, which could “endanger railroad safety”.

Construction defects, including cracks and leaks on tunnel arches and poorly arranged economic cables, were discovered in 12 railway lines across the country in routine inspections, according to a Ministry of Railways document reported on by Economic Observer.

Construction on the line began in 2010 with a budge of 13.3 billion Yuan ($ 2.1 billion). Officials of the Tibet Autonomous Region (TAR) government were quoted as saying in January that the link would be completed in 2015, and would boost tourism and accelerate the transportation of natural resources.

The project is included under the current five year plan (2011-2015) for the TAR, which has also allocated funds for expanding the region’s road network with 5,000 km of roads being built in 2011.

While Chinese officials say the infrastructure investment is directed at boosting development, the plans have been seen by many strategic experts in India and by some officials as aimed at expanding China’s military mobilisation capabilities in the sparsely-populated remote border areas. The projects, they say, will widen infrastructure asymmetry across the border.

Commenting on the issue, Indian Defence Minister A.K. Antony told Parliament last month that the Indian government was monitoring all developments in the neighbourhood that could impact national security.

They are being picked on, because this incident occurred 2 months after their grand unveiling. It was broadcasted nationwide, with invitation to multinational journalists and TV stations.

They wanted the world to see, and what the world saw was made-in-China.

Genius, where does it say China is banned from Brazil for the bidding due to safety concerns, and also China is not banned but does not meet the bidding rules. Now where is the proof the the rule directly targeted China?

In the United States for 1990, 2005, 2008 and 2009 (combined), there were about 30.3 deaths for every billion passenger kilometers traveled. In addition, according to Parilman & Associates, a National Law firm that specializes in rail accidents, “Every ninety minute (in the United States) there is a train derailment or collision.”

For every billion passenger kilometers traveled in China for the same four years, there were .02 deaths.
The death rate in America was 1,515 times higher than China for each billion passenger kilometers traveled.

Count it anyway you want. United States has more train accidents, more deaths caused by train accidents than China. In fact there are so many train accident in the US that news about train accidents do not even reach the national news media.

Tata Steel gets high-speed rail order in France
Indian major Tata Steel has received a letter of intent (LoI) from Eiffage Rail for the supply of high-quality rail for a new 182-km high-speed line in France. The order value is likely to be Rs 315.15 crore.
Tata will supply 50,000 tonnes of rail for the new Brittany-Loire Valley line, which will connect the cities of Le Mans and Rennes. The steel will be manufactured in the UK before being rolled into rail at Tata Steel's mill in France for delivery from 2015.
Jean-Luc Trottin, Eiffage Rail’s managing director, said: "One of the key reasons for awarding this letter of intent to Tata Steel was its commitment to deliver the rail when we need it, directly to the job site of Sablé and Laval." Gérard Glas, head of Tata Steel’s rail sector, said: "This is our second high-speed rail project secured in the last year and is a recognition of our world-class product and service

"We will be supplying rails, 108-metre long each, for this new high-speed line, giving passengers a smoother ride and reducing maintenance costs. We've been investing a lot in state-of-the-art technology at our French rail mill — ^50 million in three years — to enable us to make the highest quality rail and create a sustainable future for our 400 employees there," he added.

The new line will be an extension of an existing high- speed link and will reduce travel time between Paris and Rennes by 37 minutes. The project is expected to create 10,000 jobs during the construction phase and will be completed in 2016. In July, Tata Steel announced an investment in new technology at its Hayange rail mill to produce longer wear- resistant rails. And last year the company completed an upgrade of the facility, enabling it to produce 108-metre long rails. In 2011, Tata Steel secured a major order to supply rail for a new 302 km (188 mile) long high-speed line between the French cities of Tours and Bordeaux. And in 2009 French railway operator SNCF signed a 350 million euro contract with Tata Steel to buy rail for up to six years. Tata Steel supplied the rail from its Hayange plant for the track on which a TGV broke the world train speed record in 2007. The French train reached a speed of 574.8 kph (357mph) between Paris and Strasbourg.

The rule for the bidder is "at least 10 years experience in the activity" which China does not meet. This does not only apply to China but also to other countries like ROK which its Korea Train Express only start its service on April 1, 2004.

As I said before, I don't really care your mindless China bashing, but at least get all the facts right.
