5,000-km Agni-V missile ready for test firing: Antony

highlight it bro,

NEW DELHI: For the first time ever, the number of high-income households in India has exceeded the number of low-income, the National Council of Applied Economic Research (NCAER) has estimated.

In its report, "How India Earns, Spends and Saves", released on Saturday, the NCAER estimated that despite the economic slowdown of the last three years, the number of high-income households should have reached 46.7 million by March 2010, exceeding the 41 million households counted as low-incomes.

If true, this would be a remarkable turnaround within just a decade. It started with just 13.8 million households described as high-income, or earning more than Rs 1.8 lakh per annum at 2001-02 prices. Meanwhile, 65.2 million households were classified as low-income or earning less than Rs 45,000 per year. The NCAER estimated that middle-income households, or those earning between Rs 45,000 and Rs 1.8 lakh per annum, rose sharply from 109.2 million to 140.7 million in the decade.

A new report says that the slowdown in the growth in the last three years of the decade had the maximum impact on middle income households. Though in absolute terms the number of middleclass households grew from 135.9 million in 2007-08 to 140.7 million by 2009-10, in percentage terms it fell marginally from 62% of all households to 61.6% in the same period.

Interestingly, the slowdown did not impact the expansion in the number of high-income households, which grew from 16.8% to 20.5% of all households in the last two years. The fall in the number of low-income households was also sharp, from 21.1% to 17.9% during the period.

NCAER, in the report also estimated the number of families having income between Rs 2 lakh and Rs 10 lakh per annum, which is close to the World Bank definition of middle class, at 28.4 million by 2009-10. The number of such middle-class households was 4.5 million in 1995-96 and 10.7 million in 2001-02. The report said that two-thirds of the Indian middle class is to be found in urban India and that trend has continued in the last 15 years also. India has one of the highest savings rates in the world, with savings constituting an estimated 36% of the GDP.

The Chinese space program has already sent people into space. Only the USA, China and Russia have independently sent humans into space.

Only the USA and China have shot down ICBM's in space. They are also the only two nations to have tested anti-satellite missiles.

China had ICBM's with a range of 10,000KM in the 1970's. Now we have Jin-class nuclear submarines with MIRV warheads that can target most of the Earth from within Chinese coastal waters.

Want to go on with this d*ck-measuring competition? Or maybe you could just stop constantly trying to put other people down? And for once try to stay on topic?

India also has anti-ballistic missiles with high degree of accuracy.
India has already carried our ABM tests successfully.
PAD(Prithvi Air Defence) system was checked during 2006's PADE(Prithvi Air Defence Exercise),in which an ABM successfully intercepted incoming(test fired) Prithvi-II.

Coming to "Only 3 nations successfully intercepting ICBMS"
The list includes
USA
Russia
China
Israel
India

Your facts are not right.

Your facts are not right.

My facts are correct.

Only the USA and China have shot down missiles in space, i.e. beyond the Earth's atmosphere.

The People's Republic of China carried out a land-based high-altitude anti-ballistic missile test on 11 January 2010. This reportedly made China the second country in the world after the United States of America to be able to destroy an incoming missile target beyond the Earth's atmosphere.

My facts were also correct regarding anti-satellite missiles.

k i want to know,if india attack pakistan and China with its agni 3 and Agni 5,how will u defend it????

we have PAD and AAD and also SAM Akash home made...

:disagree:No brother:disagree:

"India never attacked a single country in its 3000 years of existance, despite being one of the most powerful country in the world for thousands of years."

So...........there is no chance of India attacking. We don't need any war to show our technological advancements.........:smokin:

India has an active ABM development effort using locally developed and integrated radars, and local missiles.[20] In November 2006, India successfully conducted the PADE (Prithvi Air Defence Exercise) in which an Anti-ballistic missile, called the Prithvi Air Defense (PAD) an Exoatmospheric (outside the atmosphere) interceptor system intercepted a Prithvi-II ballistic missile. The PAD missile has the secondary stage of the Prithvi missile and can reach altitude of 80 km (50 mi). During the test the target missile was intercepted at an 50 km (31 mi) altitude.[21] India became the fourth nation in the world to acquire such a capability and the third nation to acquire it using in house research and development.[22] On 6 December 2007 the Advanced Air Defence (AAD) missile system was tested successfully.[23] This missile is an Endo atmospheric interceptor with an altitude of 30 km (19 mi). According to scientist V K Saraswat of DRDO the missiles will work in tandem to ensure a hit probability of 99.8 percent.[24] Induction of the system into services is expected to be in 2010. Two new anti ballistic missiles that can intercept IRBM/ICBMs are being developed. These high speed missiles (AD-1 and AD-2) are being developed to intercept ballistic missiles with the range of 5,000 km (3,107 mi).[25]

On March 6, 2009 India successfully tested an interceptor missile that destroyed an incoming missile. A Dhanush missile was launced from a ship about 100 km (62 mi) from the coast. It rose to a height of 120 km (75 mi) and as it began its downward trajectory, the interceptor was launched and successfully achieved a kill.[26]

On July 26, 2010 India successfully tested an interceptor missile, bringing down an incoming target ballistic missile (a modified Prithvi) with 2,000 km range, at an altitude of 15 km over the Bay of Bengal

oh plz guys let us stop this. this is agni related thread.but this thread going nowhere. instead of bashing on each other let us discuss some usefull things.

now on topic:

Congrates to DRDO. I am waiting for the good news of test.
After the test of Agni 5 how many years will it take for full induction?
Is there any news on surya icbm?
Is pakistan having any program on icbm?

I heard in some news article that agni 5 can reach the target of 5500km to 7000Km. so what will be exact range of missle?
