I kind of agree, but knowing RS - he has bought a much professional, and less interventionist policy, which was a continuation of what APK had, also in Officers mess's there is much less political talk. And a recognition that running govt should be left to the civvies - even though like always they like to moan and complain.

I can see that...
Though you have to admit that RS has inherited a much less caustic situation compared to what APK had to endure during his tenure..
But all in all, the relationship building has definitely been stepped up a notch in this regime..
Case in point the Russian thaw...i think that's probably the biggest victory if nothing else materializes from this period..

Time will tell...
Problem for Pak has always been the divergent view between the civilian and military visions for the country..
If they can align themselves and have the military work in tandem...things would work out..

Though history has not been kind to this experiment in Pakistan..

I think this is identical to the case of when Saddam Hussain declared victory for Iraq after the first Gulf War because the "Americans left"...
Having to defend your cultural capital from invasion should never be the hallmark of a strong military..
But it is your right to spin it any way you would like.....

We merely didn't just defend indian invasion but put quarter of your airforce in the "bin"... And forced your generals to panic over saving indian punjab ...(which might have been lost - had Ayub not changed command of Gen Malik have way in the battle- these things are recorded by your own generals involved in the war)... Or better yet Gen Prasad himself is a witness .. "He wasn't invading anything"... rather found hiding in sugarcane fields, face darkened, ranks ripped .. Hiding and escaping a Pakistani counter attack... Which made Gen Singh to ask if "he (GOC indian forces on lahore sector) was a general or a , Coolie".

The relationship between US and Pakistani soldiers is becoming close again with hundreds of exchanges at any given time.

And even then from gora parai to salala, US forces not think twice before mowing down pakistani troops...Wonder why?

No one denies that you fought bravely...Pakistan wouldn't exist today if that wasn't the case..
But having to defend Lahore should not be considered a victory...It should never have come to that! How does a military that prides itself in the qualitative advantage over its enemy allow a lesser fighter to come to that point?!!

Indian punjab in danger is a BIG could've, should've, would've...
Same can be said about the offence in Lahore...the point is, it didnt happen..you putting Indian Punjab in danger or Pakistani losing Lahore...

Point is, our objective was achieved ie. Defend Kashmir...was your objective to defend Lahore?!
if your objective switched from taking Kashmir to defending Lahore, I wouldn't call it a victory...that is all!!
You can litter the story with how many aircrafts you took down, but the point remains irrelevant if you could not achieve the objective you set out towards..

Typical india again bragging business and economy .This thread is not about tata motors etc it,s about military .Stop off topic trolling.
Just gave you an apt answer to your post about India and it's British colonial history.

As usual, you are the 'all show and no go' guys. You can only ask questions to others and do nothing yourselves.

Who are they to judge?

How can you set a criteria when you hardly understand the design and doctrine of indo pak.

As much I know soldiers from either side know the quality they face is unmatched.

Pakistan have better training in certain areas. Which is deterred by size and equipment of india.

Both sides have an extremely capable defence forces.

And much more professional than NATO forces

The strength of the military is directly correlated to the strength of the economy...its like a domino effect..

Do you think the shiny new military toys grow on trees? or that oil can be purchased on the free market in the currency of Ummah??
Again, unidimensional Pakistani view of the world is the problem...

Just one example "When you had a breakfast in lahore in 1965" ;)

We had breakfast on the outskirts of Lahore(your second largest city) and then few years later in Dhaka..when did you last capture any major Indian city?

In 1965 we captured 3 times as much area as you..why are you proud of 1965?..Just because on the negotiation tables you got a better deal??

Friendly fire kills 5 U.S. troops in Afghanistan

Ever heard of the term "friendly fire"... Troll tank?

Aparantly troll tanks these days aren't worth ...t..

And this I what happened next:
Friendly fire eh....

Gora Prai airstrike:

On 10 June 2008, 10 Pakistani paramilitary troops from the Frontier Corps and a Pakistan Army major, were killed by a US airstrike in Pakistani tribal areas, along with 8 Taliban fighters. The airstrike occurred following clashes between Taliban fighters and US troops along the Afghanistan-Pakistan border. Taliban fighters had fled across the border into Pakistan, and two US F-15E strike fighters and a B-1 bomber then entered Pakistani airspace and dropped about a dozen 500-pound laser-guided bombs.

Angoor Ada:

Seven US helicopter gunships and two troop-carrying Chinook helicopters landed on the Afghan side of the border, in the Afghan province of Paktika, where US troops then tried to cross the border into Pakistan. As they did so, Pakistani paramilitary soldiers at a checkpoint began firing warning shots into the air and the US troops decided not to continue forward. The firing reportedly lasted for several hours.

Kurram incident:

On 30 September 2010. U.S. helicopters entered Pakistani airspace after ground troops determined that a mortar attack by militants in Pakistan was imminent, according to the Coalition. Pakistani Frontier Corps troops manning the Mandata Kadaho border post fired warning shots, and the helicopters responded by firing two missiles that destroyed the post. Three soldiers were killed and another three wounded. Pakistan responded by closing a key NATO supply route for eleven days.

Datta Khel incident:

On May 17, 2011, a skirmish between a U.S. helicopter and Pakistani forces took place in the Datta Khel area. According to NATO, an American base along the Afghanistan-Pakistan border took direct and indirect fire from Pakistan. Two U.S. helicopters flew into the area. According to the Pakistani military, the helicopters had breached its airspace.

Salala incident:

On 26 November 2011, 28 Pakistani soldiers, including 2 officers, were killed and the remainder injured in an attack on
two Pakistani border posts in Mohmand tribal region by NATOApache helicopters, an AC-130 gunshipand fighter jets.

None of them seem to be friendly fire... Operational awareness seemed to exist in every incident.
