NEW DELHI: A Delhi court on Wednesday ordered that the CBI's closure report in the 1984 riots case against Congress leader Jagdish Tytler is to be set aside and ordered the reopening of the case.

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) had earlier given a clean chit to Tytler in 2007 and in 2009 claiming there was no evidence against him.

However, challenging the closure report filed by the CBI in 2009, Lakhwinder Kaur, whose husband was killed in the riots, argued that the investigating agency had not recorded the testimonies of two key eyewitnesses who have since the riots moved to the United States.

During the arguments on April 4, the CBI prosecutor had sought the dismissal of the plea filed by the victim saying the probe has made it clear that Tytler was not present on November 1, 1984 at Gurudwara Pulbangash in North Delhi where three people were killed during the riots.

The prosecutor said at the time of the incident, Tytler was at Teen Murti Bhawan, the residence of the then late Prime Minister Indira Gandhi.

Tytler was among the three prominent leaders named in the reports on anti-Sikh riots. Two other leaders named were Sajjan Kumar and the late HKL Bhagat.

The 1984 anti-Sikh riots, which claimed the lives of almost 3000 Sikhs, were triggered by the assassination of Indira Gandhi on October 31, 1984 by two of her Sikh bodyguards.

Nothing will happen to these congressi SOB's 'coz of lack of evidence, mark my words. If Sikh extremists sitting in Canada/UK had any b**ls then they would have bumped these guys off rather than blowing up planes and killing innocents.

Have noticed an interesting trend by media.. they are trying to portray this as a setback to Jagdish Tytler himself rather than Congress as a party. Whereas anything to do with Gujarat riots, they tend to portray the incident as setback to Modi & BJP. Ye public hai sab jaanti hai!!

Yes! hang the murderers.

Absolutely!! Unfortunately you'll notice that this issue will not be dragged on by the mainstream media... there won't be hour long dedicated programs on any of the TV Channels to discuss the fallout. Meanwhile you'll hear more & more about Modi & Gujarat, come 2014 elections!!

Sorry, but these were SECULAR riots.

Communal Riots are committed by Communal Forces for Communal Gains & Communal Polarization.

I would not be surprised if Modi's name is DRAGGED in '84 riots as well.

Are You SERIOUS, how can SECULAR CONGRESS commit riots??

:disagree:

There are sellouts like NDTV, which I used to like before. I have no doubt in my mind that there are others but its the people who should be able to see through bullshit.. Alas, Congress made sure that the janta stay dumb for the most part of thier rule.

Yesterday, I was watching this debate on Times now. For all the shouting Pranab goes about, he sometimes raises, identifies and brings out some very good points from the debate.

One of the Journo in the debate said that 2014 elections will be fought only on Modi, Congress has had nothing to show for in terms of development and will only root for what is left, Anti-Modi and BJP of course for him.

Why is it that the same people who blame others for bringing Modi and Gujarat into everything are incidentally the first people who bring Modi and Gujarat into everything?

Practice what you preach, fellas!!! :P

Great development. Let's hope it reaches the logical conclusion this time.

Yes! hang the murderers.

Will not happen.

The CBI is controlled by the Congress and the Courts have been careful not to appoint an SIT, like they did in the Gujarat riots case.

But Tytler may get a slap on the wrist if the Congress decides to make him a fall guy to exculpate itself.
