1965 Indo-Pak War chronicles: Maj. Gen. G. D. Bakshi speaks

Every single part and then some more for being at home at lying

You whetted my curiousity; I actually watched all of that video, and that was a sacrifice.

He goes on to say very uncharitable things about the achievement of war aims by Pakistan.
  • First, he mentions the objective of capturing Kashmir. Without going into the details of Operation Gibraltar or of Operation Grand Slam, the most obvious fact, of course, is that Kashmir was far from being captured.
  • He mentions the detailed fighting after
    • Pakistan attacked with armour at Akhnur; India just managed to block the assault
    • The fighting around Kasur; he mentions a war aim of Pakistan as pushing through with the 1st Armoured Division through the Indian defences, and to advance on Delhi
  • He mentions exhaustion of ammunition on the Pakistani side
  • He mentions the recommendation of General Chaudhuri to stop fighting in case we ran out of ammunition, not knowing that only one-third had been exhausted, and thereby persuading Shastri to accept a ceasefire call
In your opinion, are these also true?

This swine of a General was laughing at Raheel Sharif because Raheel Sharif lost a brother at the hands of the Indian army, what this ugly pig did not mention to his RSS audience is that Raheel Sharif's brother (Maj Shabbir Sharif) won the Nishan-E-Haider for his most brave actions which led to his martyrdom, Bakhsi is truly an appalling and crass individual that he can stoop to this level.Kudos
Rachael sharif didn't lose a brother. His brother was a shaheed. Shaheed don't die.

I've never liked Bakshi, especially in his role as chief whip to Arnab Goswami's master of the hunt. But when I looked at the first three minutes of the video (I didn't go through the rest), he mentioned:
  • India's loss to China in 1962
  • Pakistan's superior military organisation
    • Better armoured forces - more Pattons, opposed by outdated Centurions
    • Incomparably better artillery
    • Better air force planes - Starfighters and Sabres vs. MiG 21s in the process of induction, along with a melange of Hawker Hunters
    • Stationing a significant part of the Army and the Air Force against the Chinese, not against the Pakistanis
As I mentioned, I didn't listen to all of it.

But of what I heard, wasn't this correct? What was false about it?
But 1962 war was started by India with the invasion of Lahore. If they didn't have the equipment why pick a fight

Now I am confused.

Sending in commandos into Indian Jammu & Kashmir was what? A peaceful satyagraha?

Second, what was the armoured attack launched by 12th Divi? Not war?

Ok give me his address I will kill him for ya loooool

How would I know? You're the one who said he didn't die. You obviously know all about him.

@snow lake

Looks like nobody else wants to do anything but what I want to do; splutter a bit and wish that this walrus wouldn't embarrass us by coming on public channels.

How sad that nobody managed to contradict his claims.

Do you believe that "ALLAH is one and only worthy of worship"?

No.

I don't believe in God.

.
No.

I don't believe in God.

Then don't question what ALLAH has told us ("Shaheed is alive you don't know about it" is a verse in Quran) ......... its true for us, you can deny it and treat it as our fairy tale. Simple to agree I think?

Agreed.

You are being metaphorical and not literal. Works for me. Whatever you want to believe is fine. I just wanted to know if @snow lake meant it literally, and it was kind of you to explain that it is a part of your religious beliefs.

Now can we get back to the military history that was totally false? And why people think it was false?

Incidentally, the 'walrus', as some posts called Bakshi, talked about his own brother, and never mentioned General Sharief's brother. So where the Shaheed comes into this is difficult to figure out.

I am not interested in history. You and other people on this thread can discuss and let me know if anyone of them got his brother back.

Err....thank you, I suppose, for posting in a thread on history that you aren't actually interested in the thread. Most obliged.

Will somebody else help me answer the questions that arise out of Bakshi's introduction to what is obviously going to be some sort of for-profit account of the 1965 war that he proposes to write? Or present?

This walrus general of india is determined for revenge against Pakistan, because 1000 year rule of Muslim rule and his brother who died in a war against pak.

We all got it wrong then. He's still alive?
Military career and death in action[edit]
He was commissioned in Pakistan Army on 19 April and after successfully completing his training, after which he was awarded the Sword of Honor, he was posted to the 6th Battalion of the Frontier Force Regiment.

In the Indo-Pakistani War of 1971, the Pakistan Army launched an offensive on the Western front against the enemy. Shabbir, as commander of a company of 6 Frontier Force Regiment, was ordered to capture high ground overlooking Grumukhi Khera and Beri, a village in the Sulemanki Sector.

On 3 December 1971, in a well-organised action, he fought valiantly alongside his men and held Indian attacks at bay. He cleared the Jhangar post with utmost courage by fearlessly passing through the minefield laid by enemy and swimming across a water obstacle, the 'Sabuna distributary', whilst under intense enemy fire and led his company to capture the objective. During the day, his troops repelled over 15 Indian attempts to recapture the high ground and furthermore, he and his men destroyed four enemy tanks and held two Indian battalions at bay by killing 43 soldiers.[5]

During an attack on the night of 5 December, Shabbir jumped out of his trench on the call of an Indian Company Commander who dared him for a hand-to-hand combat. Shabbir soon snatched the sten gun out of the Indian major's hand and mortally wounded him. The gallant act demoralized the Indian troops allowing Shabbir's men to consolidate their hard earned gains in the captured area.[8]

On the afternoon of 6 Dec, the enemy launched another counter attack preceded by air strikes and heavy artillery shelling. After casualties amongst the crew, Shabbir Sharif took over as a gunner on an anti-tank gun and started firing on the enemy tanks. While this fight was on, one of the enemy tanks fired at him causing fatal injuries which resulted in his death at the age of 28. His last words were quoted as: “Don’t lose the bridge.” It was the same bridge he died defending from the enemy’s attack. [5][9]

Read and acknowledged. As far as I remember, I have stayed on topic. Scrupulously. Please check who raised the point, and address that person about this. Thank you.
