19 Places Every Muslim Must Visit in India

Good read, nice to know.

I've heard there's also a small Goan Christian community in Karachi who stayed back, are there ? More importantly, do they run a restaurant or something there ?

Yes I read quite a few articles about them in DAWN...

A tale of two seaports, one with a particular flavour and the other which boasts a multicultural culinary palate

The Goan community in Karachi might have shrunk but before you enter their homes, there’s always a whiff of spicy and tangy seafood at their doorstep — sharp aromas titillating the taste buds. As it turns out, cooking Goan food is a labour of love.

“I make my own masalas,” says Rita Lobo, in her three-room apartment in Saddar. At 79, she continues to cook for her family and grandchildren. “I used to grind the masalas on the grinding stone,” she says excitedly with her eyes sparkling. “I don’t do that anymore. I’m old! What to do?”

Today she employs domestic help for the arduous task of grinding the concoction of spices — a crucial practice in Goanese cooking.

In India ?

By the way, I just remembered that the driver for conveyance in my last company was Shia. He was a good man and hated the TJ types.

Sometimes tension rises between shias and sunnis because of tabarrah recited by shias during moharram .muharram riots take place in lucknow occasionally .

Food wise, shark amobtik, prawn curry, prawn/fish recheado, all manner of meat in the cafreal and vindaloo styles. You should check some of that cuisine out if you're in Karachi.

The names are interesting, Goa is all about sea and sea food, the easygoing lifestyle, music, mix of Portuguese and local Indian, must be...can't be more intriguing.

Will taste their local food if got a chance...

Though Parsis love pomfret, in the beach shacks you get a crazy tandoor King fish. See if you get it there. Same sea lol. It's creamy and really nice.

To be honest, Hindu Konkanis make tastier fish than Christian Goans do. My personal opinion. Goa is literally a late lunch ride from Poona on a reasonably fast bike.

Karachi also have a handful of Marathi speaking people...

Pakistan, Oct 22: Shiv Sena may be creating ruckus over Pakistani actors performing in India and against Muslims in general, but Hindu Maharshtrians residing in Pakistan have not experienced any religious intolerance in the past — years. Around 100 Marathi-speaking families have been living in Karachi since a long time. And one of the marks of the Marathi history is a 160-year-old Narayan Jagannath High School, which was the first government school to be established in Sindh.

Wow this is news to me!

Cheers, Doc

yeah, these Karachi walas are a much friendlier lot when it comes to India.. somehow.
Half of karachiwalas went there from UP and BIHAR .despite lot of disputes between india and pakistan karachites are connected with UP and bihar by way of relatives living in both countries .

Only a small percentile of Muslims are thriving in India, 6%-8% plus/minus...a large part of them finds it difficult to eke out a living.

And with the Hindutva renaissance and hatred they find the task more difficult and hopeless.

A large proportion of Muslims are below the poverty line, or just at the periphery, they live in ghettos, runs small puncture shops, small stores, sabzi walas, uneducated lot, can't find good jobs as they can't get good education, it is a vicious cycle.

Yes the sarkari Muslims lives in good localities and with better lifestyle...

Actually Pakistanis knows India inside out...so it is almost impossible to fake things up here.

That earlier pictures of Mughal period icons with Muslim heydays and rule doesn't show the current picture of Muslim subjugation, demonizing and oppression.

Yes India was a heaven for Muslims and others...a case of paradise lost.

It is a misconception that all Indian Muslims are poor.

There are many middle income and rich Indian Muslims.

Babukhan estates in Basheerbagh was the landmark in Hyderabad when Jubliee hills were just hills and Gunrock was just rocks.
