And what was wrong in my prev. post? Were'nt the BSF spanked? Goes to show poor training.

You are an honest person who can accept the fact how messed up their security forces are when it comes to taking on a proper fighting unit. You are one of the better indians I have seen. If just most of your countrymen were like you but anyways

BSF are only fit for beating and torturing poor villagers on the border. Highly corrupt force.

Ok, Let's talk....

Forget BBC, show me your BD source for the same.

& answer my one question - Do you really think that in a country like India, the death of 137 Soldiers can be hidden from public & do you really think that India would just let them die without any counter action on it's part (genuine query)??

Remember the case of 2 Indian Soldiers killed on LOC, the news ran for nearly a month, some even said we were close to war (though i m not saying that there would have been a war, just giving eg. of how tense the situation became after the loss of JUST 2 soldiers & here we are talking about 137).

Long-running dispute

The new clashes come amidst a tense stand-off at another border outpost in the north-east Indian state of Meghalaya.

Border security is high on both sides

India says Bangladeshi troops have seized the border village of Pyrdiwah, near the town of Dauki, and are holding at least 20 soldiers hostage.

Areas of that particular stretch of border have been in dispute since Bangladesh independence in 1971. The ownership of villages on both sides of the border is claimed by both countries.

Pyrdiwah has been in the possession of India since 1971, although it is claimed by Bangladesh. Commanders of the border forces of each side are now holding a meeting to resolve the crisis but correspondents say no progress has been made.

Skirmishes are relatively common between the two countries, which share a 4,000 km (2,480 mile) border, but the latest violence is especially serious.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I have chosen only a part of BBC news above only to speak out the reasons why there was a Roumary border battle in 2001. The initial skirmish involved a place called Pirdywah which belonged to east Pakistan and then to Bangladesh after 1971 war. During 1971 war, the Muktis captured this strategically located land which IA Officers found to be quite suitable to watch on PA positions and send the Muktis to fight against them.

But, seeing that Pirdyah lies in a strategically important position IA troops decided not to hand over the place to a weak BD after war ended in 1971. At a later time, when BDR demanded the land back, but India refused. Subsequently, a decision was made between the two countries that its final status would be decided by the govts of two countries, and until that time this area will remain at Indian hands on condition that IA or BSF would not build any high or permanent structures on that land.

In the early 2001, BDR troops observed that there were construction of high road inside the area. It means IA was fortifying its position there. Alarmed by this, BDR protested to the BSF. The latter said the decision was made at the top level and BD has to talk through diplomatic channel. India being India, BDR thought rightfully it is their duty to restore the sovereignty of that land to BD. Some twenty BDR troops went into that land on the night of April 16, encircled the BSF Border Outpost, arrested the twenty BSF troops there and brought them to the mainland. BDR declared the annexation of the disputed land to BD.

It was a hard time for the two govts. The negotiation within the next few hours resulted in the releasing of the BSF troops and restoring the status quo of that area. It went back again to Indian possession. However, in order to take revenge of the BDR audacity, the angry IA mobilized 800 troops in another distant front on the midnight of April 18. Roumary is a far away place from Pirdyah.

400 IA troops entered Roumary and the remaining 400 waited in Indian soil who would enter BD land after they receive signal. That IA adventure misfired on the face of India and the panicky IA troops retreated speedily. They carried their dead and wounded back to India. Only 16 remained in BD.

BBC reporter was not there during the battle or after it to verify the numbers who died. They reported what the GoB asked its domestic newspapers to print. As far as I have heard from sources inside BA, that on that early morning hours 97 IA troops were killed. Out of this, only a handful of 16 dead bodies remained inside our land.

Can I ask the Indian posters here is not it a crime in the IA rules to refuse to carry back the dead bodies as well as the wounded? If they agree that it is a crime, indeed, then there were certainly dead bodies other than these 16 bodies founded in BD soil, and these were, by IA rules, were carried back to India.

I will not insist on how many were killed in that battle. Rather, I will talk about the daring nature of BDR troops, who even after hearing the news of 400 IA troops are coming to kill them, did not flee the camp. They did not panic, prayed a short Namaaz, embraced each other quickly and spread out as was ordered by their CO. BDR number was only 13 and they were eagerly waiting to embrace a certain death.

AL and India have jointly broken the morality of BDR in Pilkhana and have created a rift between BDR and their Officers from the BA. But, the story will not end there. Whoever is the Pilkhana mastermind in the AL will be punished by the law of the land.
