We are not insisting you. I know you are jealous that BD will turn MM tourists other way. As you wish BD garments industry will move to MM. But in our case we dont take MM as our rival. Our planning is more diverse. Religious tourism is just another one. Muslim, Hindu, Buddhist, Christian tourism. Tourism based natural, archaeological, modern. While others are business, sports cultural medical education.wi Which will also support hotel, resort, shopping, transportation, food businesses/tourism.

It's just fun to point and laugh because most of you are so clueless that you don't see why your swamp can't attract tourists. And if you ever go through my posts, you will see that I personally have never supported the race to the bottom as a viable strategy. We can already see companies like Nissan opening plants and similar moves like that up the value chain, thanks to foreign investment, are the way to go. But again, you can't see it 'cos you're so clueless. But that's good because if you were clued up, I wouldn't get my cheap laughs.

Daily Star once made an article where the author was saying we made a fatal mistake by leaving India in 1947. Look at India's Eastern states and you will yourself realize that it isn't the case.

Also, no we don't. We can't even save our tigers (the so called pride of the nation) and you expect us to be the next big thing in tourism. This site and their newspaper knows only to hype the government up. Although this is the case for most of our "media". An example would be the "No VAT" protests which were at first fiercely criticised by them at first.

You should have read the article first, it was based on a list published by Lonely Planet which ranked Bangladesh as the best value destination for the tourists. Let me copy the article here:

Bangladesh 'Best Value Destination'

Bangladesh has been ranked number one in Lonely Planet's list of the Best-Value Destinations for 2011.

The list is included the leading travel guidebook publisher's Best in Travel 2011 publication, coming out this week, and draws on the “knowledge, passion and miles travelled” by Lonely Planet staff, authors, and 600,000-strong online community to present the best places to go and things to do around the world to its readers.

More details behind the rationale for the ranking are expected to emerge in the coming days, with a briefing on the best-value list.

But judging from recent editions of the list, it should not be perceived as one containing only 'cheap' destinations. Rather, the list is based on travellers “getting their money's worth.”

Last year's list included destinations like Iceland, London, Malaysia and Las Vegas.

Previously, Bangladesh had been named as one of the 10 Interesting Destinations 2009, where it was described as “a revelation that actually leaves cousin India looking a bit worse for wear.”

Lonely Planet also brings out travel guidebooks on individual countries every few years. The last edition on Bangladesh came out in 2008 and the next one is due in November 2011. It describes Bangladesh as a “can-do country of open-hearted people, tigers, tea plantations and the world's longest beach.”

It also pays tribute to the country's resilience in the face of natural disasters, and the introduction to Bangladesh on the Lonely Planet website brands it as a “trend-setting, breathtaking and hardworking” country that others can learn from.

Best in Travel 2011 includes seventeen 'Top 10' lists, covering standard topics like the best cities, best experiences, as well as quirky ones like 'Top 10 Countries that didn't exist twenty years ago.'

Almost every country that receives a positive treatment across any of the Lonely Planet platforms experiences a subsequent boost in tourism, and “Best-Value Destinations” is one of the most popular lists in the travel annual, closely followed by backpackers, students and other budget-travellers.

Owned by BBC Worldwide, Lonely Planet is the largest travel guidebook and digital media publisher in the world.

These are just among many other opportunities we are trying to exploit. Tourism isnt our top earning source but it can be second after Garments. We setup different business opportunities simultaneously. Some gets flop some rocks. This is how we do business. To ensure growth. Not from big enterprise but from root level and grow it. And we do business so that money remains in our pocket. What businesses BD started its successful to promote it so far. Garments, Ship building, Pharma, IT, man power export, Agriculture, tea, jute, rubber,leather, fish, plastic, furniture,processed food, Tobacco,TV, Fridge, bike, cycle, medium engineering equipment. different home and office appliances, ceramic, glass, tin shade, steel, pipe, cable, fertilizer, cement etc. If we want to set up plants for vehicles we can do that also. What do you think about the minimum wage, ko. nyi? I support it in theory but my business owning friends say it's unworkable. They do have a point as we need to keep costs down to compete with BD and our country probably doesn't have the capacity to handle all the bureaucracy but it would be a really brave step to introduce it.

LOL at open hearted people and we have almost no tigers. Our world's longest beach is going under the sea day by day and we have yet to do anything. Not to mention that most of the beaches are quite polluted.

Oh I'll keep laughing for a good while yet. Second biggest export after garments? :rofl: Oh man. BD is good at the human intensive industries where you can send poor people to their deaths in death trap factories for cheap such as garments and shipbuilding/breaking and even then consumer groups in the west are wising up to the appalling conditions and start to look elsewhere. Maybe less so with the ships because I doubt shipping companies care how their ships get broken. Man power export? Yeah, if you want to sustainably send out maids and slaves for ME building projects. Everything else is a joke. Pharma? You think you can export paracetamol? Cars? LOL Who the hell would buy a BD car? Fridges? :lol:
BD companies in Myanmar? LOL. The only link they have is with your diaspora because they are marginalised here.

I could be flippant and say you could market india as the world rape destination, if you want to go that route.... How ever I will try to be civil....

Its a stupid idea to market Bangladesh as a buddist tourist destination, we don't have any REAL buddist heritage or iconic places of buddist interests. Why waste time and resources, trying to compete with Thailand, Cambodia or even myanmar?

If any one is going to visit Bangladesh they are going to visit for business purposes, this "hijabi swamp land" as you put it will be a major manufacturing destination like it or not. We can't build hotels fast enough to keep pace with demand not from tourists but from higher paying business clients.

As for people not knowing Bangladesh, I'm alright with that as long as the business community from around the world keeps coming and buying our good and services.



Our country our rules, our issues to solve...just hold your dhoti up before it falls around your ankle.

India exported 6 million motorcyles back in 2013 itself....out of total production of 16 million....and this Walton group claims a 300,000 production "capacity" (not saying what was actually produced and trying to make it look like the design is "indigenous" rather than a rip-off of probably what was already a rip-off). Is there any other motorcycle production company in Bangladesh or can we assume 300,000 is the best case scenario for yearly production?

BTW, you seriously don't want to open up a comparison with India on anything related to transport production....design, quality or quantity wise. There is enough proof on youtube itself. It will take about 10 years for Bangladesh to get somewhere to the standards and per capita levels India had 10 years ago in transport industry. Even with Walton, Bangladesh still relies on importing so many of its vehicles and auto parts from India.....contributing to the major trade deficit.

I would like to see a video of a Walton actually being driven in a foreign country like say this Bajaj in Turkey (just one example of many hundreds on youtube):

and forgot to mention that, 90% customers of tata are indians lol
and also forgot to mention how long tata in this business, yet ugly looking designs have not changed.
In terms of design, Mahindra and bajaj are best in India (good design)
