11 flights cancelled due to PIA, PALPA tiff

.
The civilian Pilot program is so messed up, it would make one cry. Civilian air schools are discouraged for some odd reason, via the red tape. The import duties on small aircraft is horrendous. Extremely poor state of affairs unfortunately.

This is not true...

Pilot training program is of the same standards of JAA (Joint Aviation Authority) and is based on UK.
This is prepared, approved and monitored by Civil Aviation Authority Pakistan (CAA)

There are 15 subjects that are studied; The books are from Jappesen...
For issue of Private Pilot Licence 8 exams and flight check conducted by CAA.
For issue of Commercial Pilot Licence 8 exams and flight check conducted by CAA.
For Air Transport Pilot Licence 8 exams and flight check conducted by CAA.

Total 24 exams to become a Captain.

These are not easy because the minimum pass criterion is 70%.

All the Flight training programs including the infrastructure and employees are approved by CAA who inspect them annually and also perform random checks with and without prior knowledge. Aircraft, pilots, instructors are also checked randomly on various airports not just where they are working but also during a flight, en-route stop overs and while teaching.

You did not understand my point. Which was, the red tape that prevents opening of new flight schools, and importing aircrafts.

Do shed some light on this point as well.

The issue here is not of Red Tape but procedures and understanding.
The basic requirement is it should be a limited company registered under the Security Exchange Commission Pakistan which does not cost much.

Then the requirement of Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority is to have a licence which is also not very difficult to attain as it is under the power of the DG CAA.

For Import there are a few other agencies that issue import licence... State Bank of Pakistan also requires to remit the amount of these aircraft hence it take time due to the financial constraints.

If one is really thinking of opening a flight training organisation then there are option available locally but that would increase the costs... initially as well as operationally.

To add to this there are misconception towards cost as people think the aircraft is small hence it would cost low unfortunately that is not the case. Then the issue is of fuel as small aircraft are normally piston engine and operate on AVGAS 100 LL which is expensive and only one company produces it in Pakistan.

Then there are other considerations too like :
It costs around PKR 5-7 cor. and does not give the same amount of profit as one can attain from a sugar mill...

When did PIA become private? Then why is it still being revived with state money?

you said had it been a multi billion dollar company....I assumed you meant a private multi billion dollar company...

. .
I meant in terms of its earning and worth be it private or state owned...

A private company has the right to fire or hire whom ever it wants...

You have problem with that, setup your own private company.

Gov. creating barriers like license requirements etc etc ? Then that's your true enemy, regulations.

Long Live Free Market !

first answer this is PIA private? If yes why is state bailing it out repeatedly?

PIA is state owned. It goes in a loss every year, due to over hiring. They have toooooooo many people, and these are political workers. Which ever party comes to power, it pays its workers through jobs in PIA and other state run enterprises (steel mill and railway and many many many others). That's why the state bails it out every year, year over year...It's a very valuable asset to all political parties.

But don't you already know all this ?

Pakistan should have revoked the Medical Licenses of doctors who participated in the strikes at hospitals where people died due to the lack of manpower.

These types of strikes will only continue until strong action is taken. Its ok to strike, but like the sentence above when you're in a position that is life or death, there's a more civilized process to go through.

Revoke the licenses of a couple of pilots who refuse to fly from the large airports, Karachi/ Lahore/ Islamabad/ Multan etc and the rest will get their act together.

i think they should question, there is no excuse for striking
has anybody wondered why our health system is worst in the world..?
lack of good doctors and lack of good system

and is going down hill so fast that i am amazed

Was just listening to Minister of flying Shujaat azeem on program 'G for gharida', these fu*king c.u.n.t pilots salaries range from 2,00,000 -- 3,00,000 & they're demanding 100% increase in it & other bullsh!ts like PIA will not fire any employe even if he is criminal or corrupt. o_O

Haramzado ke license cancel kar dene chahiye.

Then why ask such questions:

A private company has the right to fire or hire whom ever it wants...
PIA doesnt even fit the bill see your own contradiction?
