    :: PAF - Hamesha Aasmaan - 27/02/2019 ::

@Trailer23 nice work. Any idea if you'd be able to make videos out of the full songs (Aasman by Call and Hamesha by EP)?

Once Rafales come, Pakistan won’t come near LoC or border: IAF chief ACM BS

On another note, it appears that India snubbed Lockheed Martin (F-16) and United Aircraft Corporation (Su-35, MiG-35) for its 110 fighter requirement. It'll be interesting to see how the PAF's situation pans out in the next few years. The JF-17 and F-16 certainly did their thing, but the fact...

Box Office Update: New Releases Breathe Some Life Back into Local Cinemas

I'd learn the videography from Les Chavaliers Du Ciel, but when it comes to acting and story writing, I'd actually stay away from Top Gun et. al. In fact, trying to emulate Top Gun is the reason why PAF entertainment is dull. I think the strongest stories came in the Rashid Minhas and Marium...

Box Office Update: New Releases Breathe Some Life Back into Local Cinemas

There's a formula to it, sadly: 1. 30-year-old starts at PAF Risalpur 2. PAF pilot meets an attractive lady, the two mysteriously go to the Northern Areas to sing and dance 3. PAF pilot marries the attractive lady in a wedding neither of them can afford 4. The father-in-law tells the PAF pilot...

Pakistan may deliver JF-17 Thunder fighter jets to Azerbaijan

Just throwing it out there, but Azerbaijan is a confirmed SOM ALCM user. It might even be an Atmaca AShM user down the line the way they're going. @JamD PAF might have someone to foot the integration and testing bill here.

PAF successfully test-fires indigenously developed long-range smart weapon from JF-17 Thunder

I was following the figure in the box. REK is something you can fit to Mk-80-series general purpose bombs, but the H-2 and H-4 are a complete package with heavy warhead, guidance suite, and in case of H-4, a rocket booster.

PAF successfully test-fires indigenously developed long-range smart weapon from JF-17 Thunder

Perhaps, but the speed isn't the issue, it's the trajectory. The REK seems to cut straight to the target, but this 'black box' made a terminal stage correction. I don't know if a pure GPS/INS system like REK would do that so close to the target, but I can see that correction in an EO/TV system...

PAF successfully test-fires indigenously developed long-range smart weapon from JF-17 Thunder

Yup! I recorded the video myself. @JamD Denel said it tested a 'medium-range, low-cost munition' for a client in 2016/2017. I don't think Pakistan would need to send out testing work now thanks to upgrades made to the Somniani WTR, but back then, maybe... A medium range, low-cost guided...

Spice 2000 is said to be in Paksitani hands

The SPICE draws on both the H2/H4 (EO/TV) and GIDS REK (INS/GPS + Wing Kit). It'll be interesting to see what the actual cost of a SPICE kit is, not sure if it's worth putting it on anything less than a 500 kg bomb to be honest.

Turkey, Pakistan extend submarine modernization pact

The "ToT" is a misnomer. Even if KSEW knows how to manufacture it, it can't without the critical parts -- i.e., steel, engine, electronics, etc. It must buy these from France, and it'd be up to France if it wanted to sell them or not.

IAF in process of equipping Su-30MKI with Israeli SPICE-2000 bombs

    Don't forget the GIDS REK.

    R.I.P IAF SU-30 MKI

Just as we'd take India to task not showing at least sat images of the wreckage, I'd equally expect the PAF to at least get China to offer similar imagery. Seriously, how does anyone pass up on the chance to prove something like this (or downing an F-16, in India's case)?

    JF-17B - EW 'Growler'

If 1965 was a lesson about qualitatively good platforms, then I imagine India might take this period as a lesson to rationalize its procurement. The JF-17's inherent capabilities aren't its only benefit, but the fact that the PAF is also fielding 100+ of them and can add another 100 (budget...

    Pakistan Alouette III Replacement Options

You're absolutely right. The Rooivalk, for example, is a derivation of the Puma/Oryx, and the upcoming AW249 between Italy and Poland is a development of the AW149. The key, as the Turks are showing, is to get into the production of dynamic parts (rotors, transmission, etc) and the engine. Lets...

Does a fifth gen fighter change the dynamics of aerial warfare in S. Asia?

IMO it's tough to quantify the low-RCS stuff without proof of the PAF's solution (be it from China or otherwise) and its effectiveness. But any net-benefit in range, payload, and electronics output (esp. AESA radar) would be welcome and restore some parity in the region. But as with anything...

LD-10 can become a game changer for Pakistan air force?

Not sure about the LD-10 specifically, but they can look at putting a passive radar seeker on the DK-10 (Sky Dragon).

LD-10 can become a game changer for Pakistan air force?

It's unlikely that the PN will have its own fighter wing. However, fast-tracking an FGF unit (Project Azm or otherwise) for dedicated maritime operations would be prudent. If that can happen with a supersonic ASCM...

LD-10 can become a game changer for Pakistan air force?

@Oscar had outlined that the key benefit of the LD-10 (over the MAR-1) is that it can be integrated to a dual-ejector rack alongside the SD-10. Besides the seeker, it's basically the same missile (SD-10/LD-10). The idea discussed earlier (among enthusiasts) was that the PAF can repurpose the...

    PN mini-submarine fleet

The adjacent coastline is a major factor for SWATS. The notion that 1 or 2 of those can just enter and loiter near the enemy coast will see the IN thin out its ASW coverage. Difficult to see how imposing a presence against larger SSKs out in the open seas is sustainable if a SWATS threat lingers...

    PN mini-submarine fleet

The ideal scenario would be to open a manufacturing line of the mini-SSK and add 1 every 2-3 years following the initial order. If AShW/ASW capable, a large mini-SSK fleet would make accessing Pakistan's littoral waters a high-risk venture (a mini-SSK = small acoustics already + further masked...
