Just like there wasn't a need to start a thread on The Top 10 Absurd Fatwas started by one of your countryman. Annoying, isn't it ? It's a moronic circle and will only stop if both sides take a break and grow up.
Prostitution is a by-product of other social and economic ills such as lack of equal opportunities for all citizens of the state. Tackle them and you will be able to minimize prostitution, if not totally eradicate it. One more point to keep in mind is that any business is profitable as long as...
Voice of the people is the voice of God (Greek proverb). The people have chosen what they think is best for them. This, I think is a phenomenon known as democracy.
Then perhaps instead of demonizing Muslims, you should stand with the Muslims and Sikhs and raise your voice against this injustice. Unless you are saying that since the french do it, why can't we ?

I can care less about anyone living in India because they all are citizens of the Indian state and its responsibility. My only contention is about setting the record straight and that is all I'm doing. While talking about getting the facts right, I'm sure you would present empirical data to...
To a large extent yes, but what they and the Swiss did with regards to banning the Islamic symbols of Minarates and Hijab was contrary to the principles of secularism.
That India is not secular then pal. I don't have a problem with how you conduct your affairs but stop putting up a facade.
btw my question is why you pakistanis are so concerned about it....you got your own country...why dont you just leave us alone and stop bugging us all the time..
This, if...
Bringing Pakistan into the discussion is not the answer. We do NOT claim to be secular and yet there are wine shops for the minorities in Pakistan. Either start acting liking a secular state or accept that you are not secular but have a fair amount of freedom for all to live in.
Won't be...
It is not an issue of Islam or Hinduism. It is an issue of having equal rights for all citizens of the state. I would be 'whining' if there was a law made which was preferential to Muslims just because they are in majority. It does not fly in a country which claims to be secular.
Would it be fine with you then if a Muslim led government in a state where there are 92% Muslims makes the Burqa mandatory to protect the sensitivities of the Muslims ? I am sure the minorities there would understand and be kool with it since that is how things are done in India.
The big deal is some people saying that ' it is just in one state ', and condoning the act. This kind of legislation open up a Pandora's box for all kind of misplaced ideas. What if a Muslim majority government in one state passes a law keeping in view the sensitives of Muslims and ignores...
Are the cows being slaughtered right next to the temples or inside the temples ? In a secular country, one is allowed to do whatever he wishes while being sensitive to other's needs. A solution to this problem would be to make slaughter houses in the Muslim majority areas or outside the city...
