What will it take for action to be taken on the situation in Karachi?

Let's see, here are the options: a. Make moral arguments to convince the Sindh government to take responsibility and take care of its citizens Fat chance! The people holding office are corrupt, selfish, greedy, and shameless about it b. Vote the Sindh government out of power The way things are...

What will it take for action to be taken on the situation in Karachi?

I agree, smaller cities are better, for many reasons. Not hard to understand.

What will it take for action to be taken on the situation in Karachi?

There seems to be two schools of thought: One that believes that the people of Karachi have to get out in the streets and protest against the Sindh government. The second view is that the federal government has to take control, either temporarily or permanently, by declaring Karachi a federal...

What will it take for action to be taken on the situation in Karachi?

The province as a whole, not specific districts. And I said "relatively". By no stretch of the imagination is the situation in those two provinces good.

What will it take for action to be taken on the situation in Karachi?

The responsibility is not different, but the situation in those two provinces is relatively better.

What will it take for action to be taken on the situation in Karachi?

Building a city close to Karachi would benefit the Balochistan government greatly. They would benefit from the Karachi port, they would have access to a skilled workforce, and they could realistically attract industries to relocate with the right incentives. This could be a huge source of...

What will it take for action to be taken on the situation in Karachi?

You mean beyond SITE, the Hub area. That is a small area, not half. The sprawl in the North and East is all Sindh.

What will it take for action to be taken on the situation in Karachi?

Both federal and provincial governments are responsible for the situations in both Sindh and Balochistan.

What will it take for action to be taken on the situation in Karachi?

Ok, but will the federal government do that? Are they waiting for things to get even worse?

What will it take for action to be taken on the situation in Karachi?

No idea what you mean, maybe you can elaborate. Or not.

What will it take for action to be taken on the situation in Karachi?

I think we all agree that the provincial government is the problem. But we need intervention from the other centres of power.

What will it take for action to be taken on the situation in Karachi?

Depopulation is critical. I don't understand why the Balochistan government does not build a city an hour away from Karachi (say Gadani), and slowly attract industries and commercial activities there. It would be a win-win.

What will it take for action to be taken on the situation in Karachi?

My reading of the situation is that the reason successive federal governments have not done that is because the PPP government always threatens to play the "Sindh card". That could also mean destabilization, terrorism, etc. Do you think that is a real threat? Or are these fears unfounded?

What will it take for action to be taken on the situation in Karachi?

I agree, that is the scale of work needed. But how can we get that done? Unless by "post war" you are suggesting that a war is needed first. Are you?

What will it take for action to be taken on the situation in Karachi?

This is an honest question, not a rhetorical one. I would like to get your views. What do you think needs to happen, what is the red line, what will it take for the three axes of power - the federal government, the judiciary, and the military, to get on the "same page" and do something about...

Karachi after just 60 mm rain

Its not about culture. It is about the abdication of responsibility by all levels of government. Citizens cannot be expected to take their own garbage to landfills (that do not even exist), or clean (build) their sewers, or mend (build) their roads, or lay water supply pipes, or build power...

    Education: PTI’s plan exposed

That's because in his eyes, Pakistan has no good, and Pakistanis have no redeeming qualities. He is surrounded by ignorant, backward, bigoted, uneducated, uncultured, uncivilized, confused, hypocrites. He must live a pretty miserable, frustrated existence. It's quite sad really.

Pakistan’s first underground water reservoir system starts launched in Lahore

This is really very encouraging news. All we hear on TV is that Buzdar has to go. But the good work does not seem to be getting as much airtime. This project will go a long way in making the city more livable. I hope it gets replicated everywhere in the country, including the forsaken city of...

    Pervez Hoodbhoy's Secular Delusion

There is a lot that this picture gets wrong. But I will point out one: It employs an argument known as Reductio ad absurdum. Shariah does not equal the Taliban, and the vast majority of people who leave the country, do so for economic reasons, not because they are being hypocritical. Reductio...
