What's new

What will it take for action to be taken on the situation in Karachi?

Ok, but will the federal government do that? Are they waiting for things to get even worse?
If you are looking for political legal channels then it's impossible because of 18 amendment in this current circumstances.

Only federal Govt with 2/3 majority can make karachi a federal territory if there is a will to do this.

unfortunately people of pakistan are not on same page because of MQM and past history of karachi, so people of pakistan must be on same page first regarding karachi.

Federal territory is good idea because it will further boost pakistan economy and CPEC and only federal Govt will take control of karachi. No more Governer raaj, no more 18 amendment curse.

the world is going for community based living.

era of big cosmopolitan metropolis is over.

sooner this sense comes to Pakistan the sooner the better.

we live in the age of bio warfare. its imperative for national security to scale down any mason work for big cities.

sadly you won't get it and the war will get us earlier.
I agree, smaller cities are better, for many reasons. Not hard to understand.

That is where the money is. Its all about the money.

you can power whole of Afghanistan from electricity created by the waste material languishing on the streets in Karachi.

world and regional politics get decided on the trash of the Karachiites yet they can't decide shit for themselves ironically
i am high but thats some next level conspiracy!

.
Sindh govt won't let that happen. The same was suggested for Gawadar at a time too but the provincial govt resisted, in my opinion, rightfully so. I think that Kci should stay in Sindh but the govt there needs a kick or a heavy boot to get up and do something!

Nothing will change PPP.

A vote should be initiated for Karachi, whether or not the people want it to become federal territory, and an international observatory organization should be hired to ensure transparency. This will shut PPP up.
However, if the results are in favor of not making Karachi federal territory, then it will become a serious issue in the future, and I am afraid that might just be the case. There is no shortage of PPP supporters, and the lack of deliveries by PTI makes this more dangerous.

When cars are floating PPP celebrating Asif Ali Zardari’s birthday with his picture. Woah!!!
Just understand their priorities and if one still believes, ppp can help Karachi with all this destruction is deluded so much. View attachment 656016

Worthless worthless corrupt dynasties and parties

Bhutto's, zardaris, mqm mafias, PTM haramis, ANPs

Corrupt idiot after corrupt idiot

PTI isn't Brilliant by any means but compared to this trash??????

If Pakistani are stupid enough to still vote for Bhutto's and sharifs then you deserve what you get

VOTE THEM OUT

Nothing will happen. Its a systematic destruction backed by establishment to move industries to lahore islamabad or in future gwadar.

PTI is not gonna call a genie to help Pakistan. It’s the least worst party in bunch of the most worst parties. So we gotta look up to this new government and hope it does deliver as it promised or at least close to the promises they made with people.

Let's see, here are the options:

a. Make moral arguments to convince the Sindh government to take responsibility and take care of its citizens
Fat chance! The people holding office are corrupt, selfish, greedy, and shameless about it

b. Vote the Sindh government out of power
The way things are right now, the influence (brute power) of the landed mafia, and the poverty of rural Sindh, makes it almost impossible to vote them out of power. There are no viable alternative political groups in rural Sindh

c. Force the current Sindh government to take care of its citizens by legal means
This is attempted every once in a while by an excited Chief Justice, but it never works because there is no concerted effort by the three centres of power (judiciary, federal govt, military). The SC judge is not an urban planner, and there are many, many ways in our corrupt legal system to dodge even a direct order by an SC judge - case in point, the Karachi Circular Railway.

d. Educate urban and rural Sindhis (yes, that includes all ethnic groups who live in Sindh) so they are able to vote for better people
Long term, this is by far the best solution. The problem is that it cannot be done with the current provincial government in power. So it has to be done in conjunction with one of the other options below.

e. Declare Karachi a federal city permanently, or declare Karachi a province (essentially the same thing)
The federal government will need a 2/3rd majority. And there may be other legal considerations that I am not familiar with. Of course, there will be serious retaliation from those who are in power now (in the province), and there is a risk of it turning into a long term, terrorist movement like Balochistan. Nevertheless, this is a viable solution

f. Impose Governor rule temporarily
This may be the most realistic option, and the best solution long term. Here is how it should work. The federal government covertly encourages people to protest. This will give them the pretext to intervene, and impose governor rule.

Once in power, the federal government will have to ruthlessly dismantle the rotten bureaucracy that has been put in place by the previous governments, and do everything possible to erode the power of the feudals.

The new government would then have to step in and provide services like healthcare, education, utilities, roads, and other infrastructure. There will be three outcomes from these actions by the government:
  • The people of Sindh would be won over by the new government because of the new services
  • The people of Sindh will have the freedom to vote for the right people
  • The people of Sindh will have the education to vote for the right people

I know I am simplifying things. Nevertheless, I believe it can be done if there is a will by the federal government.

Absolutely

PTI is on a learning curve and as a populous we need to put pressure on every politician.to perform

PPP, Pmln etc are NEVER going to change so we have to back the only party we can pressure to change itself and Pakistan
