Military Rule in Pakistan

The Five Military Rulers (1956-2008)

Iskander Mirza (March 23, 1956–October 27, 1958): 948 Days
Ayub Khan (October 27, 1958-March 25, 1969): 3,802 Days
Ceded Shaksgam Valley to China in 1963.
Yahya Khan (March 25, 1969-December 20, 1971): 1,000 Days
Surrendered East Pakistan to India in 1971.
Zia-ul-Haq (July 5, 1977-August 17, 1988): 4,061 Days
Lost Siachin Glacier to India in 1984.
Pervez Musharraf (October 12, 1999-August 18, 2008): 3,233 Days
Surrendered Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) to United States in 2004.

Days since independence (22-08-2014): 24,480
Days under military rule: 13,044
Days under democratic rule (22-08-2014): 11,436

Democratic rule in Pakistan can only surpass military rule on January 17, 2019 under the current status quo.

How about PA launch a political party and fight elections? A win win for both; people who love army rule and people who want democracy.

General (retired) Pervez Musharraf is still alive and his political party is called the All Pakistan Muslim League (APML). The party currently holds one seat in the National Assembly.

Damocrazy lost Bangladesh by ZAB, WHO WAS THE FRIST CIVILIAN MARSHALL LAW ADMINISTRATOR Of pakistan, was not added in this thread, which is basicly directed to paint Damocrazy is the only solution left in pakistan ?
but not the real democracy?
also, this thread is lacking the economic progress, done by the dictatorships if comparing to the Damocrazy?
Most to the , Pakistani politicians like nawaz sharif & Zulfiqar Ali bhutto, were the production of the dictatorships , & were key figures?
All I can say, is a kid, s wish to make pakistan as his fairy tale?

What a turbulent history. Why is pakistan such a volatile place? Perhaps dictatorships are better for paksitan

Not the retired ones ... I meant the ones who are in the uniform right now. Many here would gleefully jump to the Idea of Army ruling the country forever.

It's not the party, which has the support of the pakarmy?
It's mostly based on the peoples, who were the part, of musharaf govt, or inspired by his vision , which he implemented in pakistan economic, socialy!
Anyway , pakistan was 100 times better then what we have today? The Pakistan as a state?

Weakest democracy is better then strongest dictatorship. So in my view democracy should prevail

The military-ruler usually builds a political party after he takes over. For example, during General (retired) Pervez Musharraf's military-rule his political party was called Pakistan Muslim League Qaid (PML-Q).

The party still exists and currently holds 2 seats in the National Assembly.

Some people would like to point out that military dictators are better than democracy. Whether its true or not can only be tested in Pakistan to see the results.

How about having a stable democracy instead of doing the same thing over and over and over again?
