268 Libyan commandos graduated from a Turkish training camp on Tuesday, most of whom were revolutionaries who joined the national army.
Colonel Mukhtar Rufa, who attended the ceremony, said the specialised soldiers had been carefully selected from different parts of Libya.
Training supervisors chose the men based on certain criteria, including level of education, discipline and physical capabilities.
Rufa emphasised that the training is part of the ‘Libyan Program for Intergration and Development’, aiming to improve the army.
The training program entailed a series of tough physical and mental tasks. Initially, 400 soldiers went to the training camp but only 268 were able to complete it due to the difficulty.
Colonel Rufa said this has proved that those who completed the training are worthy commandos, and enters them into the elite tier of the Libyan army.
