Zero import duty for Qatar, UAE rulers proposed

ISLAMABAD: The government has proposed exemption for the rulers of the UAE and Qatar from paying duty on imported goods, vehicles and household articles through the Finance Bill 2015-16.



The FBR has proposed amendments to Customs Act 1969 in the first schedule through Finance Bill 2015-16 stating that the articles and personal effects including vehicles and goods for donation projects established in Pakistan, imported by the rulers of following dignitaries of the UAE and Qatar subject to certain condition were allowed at zero duty.



The dignitaries of the UAE include H.H. Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of UAE Armed Forces; H.E. Sheikh Suroor Bin Mohammad Al-Nahyan, Chamberlain of the Presidential Court, Abu Dha; H.E. Sheikh Mohammad Bin Khalid Al-Nahyan, Member of the ruling family of Abu Dhabi; H.E. Sheikh Nahyan Bin Mubarak Al-Nahyan, Minister for Higher Education of the UAE and Member of the ruling family of Abu Dhabi; H.E. Sheikh Sultan Bin Hamdan Al-Nahyan, Member of the ruling family of Abu Dhabi; H.H. General Sheikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Al-Nahyan, Chief of Staff of UAE Armed Forces; H.E. Sheikh Tahnoum Bin Mohammad Al-Nahyan, Member of the ruling family of Abu Dhabi; H.H. Sheikh Sultan Bin Zayed Al-Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister of the UAE; H.H. Shaikh Mubarak Bin Khalifa Bin Saud Al-Thani, H.E. Shaikh Abdullah Bin Ali Bin Abdullah Al-Thani, H.E. Shaikh Abdul Rahman Bin Nasser Bin Jassim Al-Thani, H.E. Shaikh Ali Bin Ahmed Al-Ahmed Al-Thani, H.E. Shaikh Faisal Bin Jassim Bin Faisal Al-Thani, H.E. Shaikh Falah Bin Jassim Bin Jabr Al-Thani, and H.E. Sheikh Faisal Bin Nasser Bin Hamad Al-Thani.



These dignitaries will avail themselves of this facility on certain conditions which include (i) a complete list of all vehicles showing the name of the owner, details of imports and present custodian etc shall be provided by the UAE/Qatar ambassador.



(ii) The list shall be updated every six months i.e. on 31st July and 31st January to show status as on 1st July & 1st January.



(iii) UAE/Qatar rulers must make and disclose alternative arrangements for maintenance of their fleet by their employees and not by any Pakistani posing as their agents or authorized representatives.



(iv) UAE/Qatar Embassy should undertake that no Pakistani will be allowed use of their duty free vehicles and that they will abide by the true spirit in which this concession is available to the UAE/Qatar rulers.



(v) In order to avail the duty concession, an exemption certificate to this effect shall be issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Government of Pakistan.

with due respect i highly doubt it will be used as such, given the ineptness of our current government in reforms pkus all the lavish Arabs that would be using it for nothing but personal use

Please check relevant threads for how much UAE helped us in rebuilding Sawat. Both Shiekhs and Government contributed generously. Check Xeri thread as well where ARABS and Shiekhs are financing projects in S.Waziristan and rest of FATA.

If it was about hunting trips and accessories they bought with them , Saudi Sheikhs would have been mentioned specifically. But nah, Some people just don't apply logic to their arguments.

The dignitaries of the UAE include H.H. Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of UAE Armed Forces;

He is the President of UAE, Ruler of Abu Dhabi since the death of Shaikh Zayed in 2004, and Supreme Commander of the UAE armed forces.

H.E King Hamad Bin Isa Al-Khalifa, Lt. Gen. Sheikh Mohamed Bin Isa Salman Al-Khalifa.

First one is King of Bahrain, second person is also from the Bahrain royal family.
