Yom Kippur War 1973: Why did Syria fail to take the Golan Heights?

As noted there was massive use of ATGMs later on during Chinese Farm battles, Mussuri, Hamutal, Lituf and so on.

When you talk about shot down F-16 by Syrians although even Syrians themselves dont tell that, then obviously its stupid conspiracy. Especially when it comes from same Gordon Duff retard to who told us about Israel nuking Syria.

Another retarted discovery which is not backed by anything as usual.

That was the initial plan. Israel sent 2 divisions (Adan and Magen) to encircle the 3rd army, while 2 brigades from Sharon division were holding against the second army (Erez and Reshef).

They cut it by surrounding it.

They tried, but only lost the 25th brigade in desperate attempt.

After spending 23th brigade they remained with presidential guards brigade just, vs 3 divisions.

Egypt had 10 trained and equipped divisions vs 4 Israeli. They could mobilize more untrained and unequipped and send human wave mullah style. But I doubt it would work against armor divisions.

Every time u open ur mouth u embarrass urself. Are not u tired?
Like in Suez City, where civilians annihilated all you armor with RPGs. who is the fool here?

Are you really this stupid or just pretend to be while posting here?

The Second Army lost the bulk of its Armored Forces in the doomed attack on the Sinai Passes on October 14th. Then Israel launched its counter attack, it attacked in the southern flank of the Egyptian 2nd Army near the Chinese Farms area. Israeli Tanks met Egyptian Infantry and a ferocious fight, Israelis were able to secure a bridge head and cross the canal.

Israelis chose to encircle the 3rd Army as logistically it made more sense than turning north and encircling the 2nd Army as the 3rd Army's area of operation was smaller than the 2nd Army.

How could the 2nd Army have wiped out most of the Israeli Troops if they managed to cross the canal and encircle the 3rd Army?

The Egyptian Reserve Forces had already been committed to battle on October 14th, so beside support troops there were no Reserve forces left on the African side.

Anyways its clear you know absolutely nothing.

Its like trying to have a debate with a 5 year old about philosophy.
Sorry body but the stupid one is you here, the second army could not be defeated that is why the Usraeli forces turned south, they crossed the canal from the lake. that was the gap.
Since your knowledge about the subject seems to be new and limited, I will leave you with your philosophy and mostly ignorance.

The 2nd Army was on the Western Bank, it had no elements on the eastern bank. How could the 2nd Army defeat the Israelis and yet the Israelis still manage to cross the canal?

Please explain that.

The Usraeli objective was to attack the 2nd army first which was on the eastern bank (it has crossed the canal in the first day of the war) not the western one (It has supply lines streched to the western bank of the canal), it failed in the attack, in every attempt of it, but "found" a breach to its left, that is where they have set their bridges and started crossing on the lake not the canal per say. they have also tried to cut its supply lines and failed miserably. After they have crossed (in reality Allowed to cross...) they have attempted to take Suez city and failed very miserably, The city of Ismaelia was not a better fate for them, and all this has happened on the side of the 2nd army, then , the Usrelis (that have crossed) had no other choice but to turn south towards the 3rd army, which their media claim has surrounded the Egyptian 3rd army, which was an utter lie, like usual. If you refer to General Sharon, who had the hands on experience by leading these Usraeli forces, he has said clearly the he did not know who was surrounding whom and that no one could tell .

Of course you as usual. In Suez Israelis fought with units of 19th and 6th division and they lost not "all the armor" but 4 tanks + some 10 Czech OT-62 troop carriers which were captured from the Egyptians themselves day previously.

The red rhombus is place of the Israeli crossing. Now you can see that in order to encircle 2nd army u need to move 90 km northwards through green terrain + Ismalia and many small villages. While in order to encircle 3rd army u need to move 60 km through desert. Thats why Israelis chose 3rd army, since in contrast to u they were not retards.

that is where they have set their bridges and started crossing on the lake not the canal per say
Lake is some 9 km wide, you cant put a bridge there. Of course Israelis set their bridges through on the canal. Boy, can you say a sentence without lying?

3rd army, which their media claim has surrounded the Egyptian 3rd army, which was an utter lie
Let me quote Shazly again, kiddo:

25 Oct 1100 hours: A meeting of the Armed Forces Supreme Council, the first since the outbreak of war. ...The main topic was, of course, how to open the road to Third Army. But though everyone spoke with passion, nobody could come up with a realistic plan.

And after. On October 30, when the plight of Third Army was desperate, the Egyptian newspapers appeared with banner headlines: "Our forces are in complete control of the West Bank of the Canal between Deversoir and Suez Town" and: "The Third Army is Receiving Supplies in the Normal Fashion." The whole world was being told of the encirclement of Third Army except the wives, mothers, sisters and sweethearts of the men suffering out there. Of course, rumors began to circulate. It was a catastrophe too big to hide.

I had lost almost 11 pounds in six weeks. But how could I relax while the 45,000 officers and men of Third Army were cut off?

If you refer to General Sharon, who had the hands on experience by leading these Usraeli forces, he has said clearly the he did not know who was surrounding whom and that no one could tell .
It was related to time of Chinese farm battles. Had the Egyptians won, they could cut crossed Israelis, but Israelis prevailed there.

Both show pretty much the same and that Israelis controlled the canal part too by the way.

.
Barlev 150 km line was defended by 400 infantry men. Thats all. Israelis has almost no artillery either. So when u see massive explosions during crossing in movies thats nonsense. In real crossing was very calm. They simply crossed between the Israeli posts (which were located some 10 km from each other) without meeting any resistance.
.
why did it take 6 years to build the defensive line then. why your generals said it need the engineers of the soviets and the US to cross it and shazly said in detail what the bar liv line was
So i ask u, why u did not use that tactics on 14 oct?
i dont understand what you mean if you mean the attack which we did outside our air defense every one knew it was a suicide but we did it anyway
Egypt militarily lost the war. Its armored forces were defeated, the 2nd field army was badly depleted while the 3rd army was totally surrounded.

But by inflicting heavy losses on the Israelis, it made the Israelis treat the Egyptians as equals which led to peace between Israel and Egypt.

So if the ultimate goal of the war was to get the Sinai back by shocking the Israelis, then it worked.

But on a purely militarily point of view, it was a defeat for the Egyptians.

As Kissinger famously said to the Israelis, "Destruction of the 3rd Army is an option that does not exist"
if you want to talk about depleted army we should talk about IDF we still had the republican guards and the 4th armored and we can call algrians reinforcements
let us imagine the war continue
the 3rd army was surrounded but there is no way we can tell if isrealis attack they would finish them off on paper the isreali attack on ismalia would work but they were stooped by airborne and elite infantry thunderbolt also their attack on suez light infantry and the brave people of suez managed to defend their city isreal had already lost a large number considering their size and population
the situation inside isreal
the economy would collapse if they fight any longer the isreali reserves are the nation civilians

.
yeah, the "superior" IDF attacked a city and they got repelled by a bunch of civilians LOL what a humiliation

Utterly wrong assessment.

The 3rd Army was surrounded and it was only due to extreme American pressure that Israel did not destroy the encircled Army. If Egypt had continued the War, Israel would have most definately destroyed the trapped 3rd Army.

Israeli attacks on Ismalia was stopped because Israel was more concerned in completely encircling the 3rd Army. Once it had encircled it, there was a cease fire, had there been no cease fire, Israel would have turned its might towards these towns and have taken them.

Israeli economy was doing fine. American Aid would make up for any shortfall.

Israeli objective was to first defeat the Egyptian Armored Reserves which it did on October 14th. Then it engaged the Infantry forces of 2nd Army in Battle of Chinese Farms to force a breakthrough across the canal.

Israel chose to encircle the 3rd Army instead of the 2nd Army because the territory occupied by the 3rd Army was smaller than the 2nd Army and Israel would need to extend its supply lines to encircle the 2nd Army. So thats why Israel went south instead of north.

In other words you know nothing. Absolutely nothing.

You are a troll.

He's uttering non sense, bullshit and self conclusions and talking about them like if they were truths LOL, do you even know what's the 3rd army?! do you think they are some 100 soldiers with rifles or something ?! LOL, it would take Israel months to destroy the 3rd army, they tried at first actually but were met by fierce resistance , and after they reached a dead end, they said let's move a little bit towards Cairo to make it look to the world like we are in a strong position, as a show off and a face-saving move. They were standing in the middle of nowhere with their legs shaking of the imminent Egyptian counterattack.

Your red rhombus is just beside a lake, so who is lying here?
Every move of the Usraeli forces after the 8 first days were allowed by Sadat policy of changing camps from Soviet influence to the US one. I think that strategy is beyond your grasp. Fighting Usrael was easy for Egypt, fighting the US was not. It is the US weapons that fought the war on your side, you barely manned them and lost most of the battles, but yet screaming victory. it is false and most people know it.
Shazli was waved from his function, it was a bitter experience for him , and he did not witness the surrounding if any of any Egyptian forces, unlike Sharon who led the Usraelis himself and stated that he did not know who was surrounding whom.
So, you better swallow your false pride.

.
Israel was helpless about the 3rd amy, they could have done nothing about it, because of the difficulty of their military situation west of the canal, especially after Ariel Sharon's failure to capture the city of Ismailia and the failure of the Israeli army to capture the city of Suez when the IDF got fcked in the booty by Egyptians, the IDF's tanks got a bunch of RPG's in their booty and they ESCAPED THE SCENE LIKE RATS !

it is not that simple destroying the 3rd army and what about the 4th armoured and the republican guards plus rearmed forces behind them the 3rd army itself is an easy target no one can tell what would happen if they attack in some cases thunderbolt elite infantry held strong points like kabriet and managed to defeat attacks we could have seen the same
Israeli attacks on Ismalia was stopped because Israel was more concerned in completely encircling the 3rd Army. Once it had encircled it, there was a cease fire, had there been no cease fire, Israel would have turned its might towards these towns and have taken them.
so they were joking with us ? you attack or you dont if ismalia was not important they would not attack it and we have to remember they ignored the cease fire they agreed to

my brother Mahmoud

in modern wars, once an army looses air cover, then it is at the mercy of those who do.

In WW-2 Germans suffered HUGELY at the battle of the bulge. Entire German army and their mules were turned into miles long heaps of smoldering metal and meat.

fast forward to GW-1

Iraqi army suffered the same fate while they were turned into smoldering heap of metal and meat on the road to Baghdad.

had Sadat not agreed to the ceasefire, then the third army would have suffered the same fate.

and so would have anyone trying to help them.

Please update your knowledge at least starting from WW-2 if not longer.

Thank you

.
The Egyptian air defence lines were protecting the Canal, and no Usraeli airplane could approch the 2nd or 3rd army. It was too frustrating to an air supremacy dependant IDF. You can conclude anything you want after meditating on this fact.

i know this very well this is why we lost in 76 war our air force was destroyed on the ground
in 73 some SAMs were destroyed by isreali later in the war but our air force did not suffer big losses and our air force was doing the best he can with what we have you can see mansora air battle so our migs can cover army operations and by the end of the war we have the sam line between cairo and suez protected by our ground forces
