Well going from 90%+ to 79% is the proof of their tolerance since independence. I don't really see why Muslims have a problem with being identified if they are not involved in suspicious agenda. I am also from a minority community; a truly minority community which is officially less than 5% of the total national population. Never ever have I felt threatened as a community or as an individual at any level.
Muslims are more than 15% of the population and still they feel threatened everywhere from India to Europe to USA to Canada to Australia to wherever but somehow do not let their own convert to other faiths in Middle East.

That is sheer double standards which irritates others.

The thing with Hindus is that they will leave you peacefully if you don't meddle in their affairs. Simple.

There are 55 Islamic countries with no conversions allowed while India and Nepal are the only bastions of Hindu traditions.

After the horrors of Partition and the brutal treatment Hindus got in Kashmir, I don't blame them for being suspicious of organised religions who only thrive in conflict and enmity.

I am not religious and really hope this guy has the skill to do something good for all UP.
In my experience only results count. Some ppl can be very good personally but when asked to lead , cant execute anything on the ground.
And someone will be a bit of a crook but will simultaneously get a lot done.

You are right .We will allow those who respect our Hindu traditions .
Mughals could rule here because we allowed them and when one Aurangzeb turned against us ,we ended the Mughal empire there .
Same goes to our political parties.

Ironically Muslims are the second largest community in India and are always still insecure while communities that are less than 5% of the country's total demography are comfortable and living peacefully without any rioting.

I can rephrase the same about Bangladeshi hindus, Egyptian christians etc. They are second largest communities in their respective countries yet are insecure while other communities lesser than 5% are comfortable and living peacefully. What say?

So going by your logic even Jr. Owaisi made speeches before elections yet won. So he is no different than those saffron zealots, yet you feel outraged over his statements while ignoring when others make similar statements.

Owaisi made a speech and many Hindus felt insulted and/or threatened. This is how humans behave. Most people are very good and don't want to harm others, but if they feel threatened or insulted they might be moved by leaders to reciprocate.
