Yogi Adityanath gets legal notice ‘for calling Lord Hanuman a Dalit’

“Hanuman was a forest dweller, deprived and a Dalit," the Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister had told at a poll rally in Alwar.

A right-wing group in Rajasthan has sent a legal notice to Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath asking him to apologise within three days for allegedly calling Lord Hanuman a Dalit.

Rajasthan Sarv Brahmin Mahasabha president Suresh Mishra has now sent a notice to Mr. Adityanath, accusing him of dragging Lord Hanuman’s caste for political gain for the BJP in the State where Assembly polls will be held on December 7.

The notice reads, “I am saddened that UP chief minister called Lord Hanuman deprived. His statement has hurt religious sentiments of several devotees. Those who are deprived they get strength to fight the odds. It is a sheer attempt to take political mileage in election.”

Mr. Adityanath’s comments have triggered a political row prompting the Congress to blame the BJP for its “dual face”.

The term 'dalit' is a modern term and did not exist before the 20th century.

Even Ambedkar did not use the term 'dalit'.

It basically refers to 'out castes' i.e those thrown out of their caste, villege, society, city etc. People who have been ostracized for crimes ranging from eating beef, incest, murder etc.

So Sugriva became a 'dalit' when he was ostracized by his brother king Bali. And all his followers were ostracized too, e.g. Hanuman.

Then you have clearly not read the Ramayana.

The reason Bali marries Sugreev's wife is because sugreeva became an outcaste and is "considered" dead for all practical purpose. And the onus of taking care of the wife of the brother falls on the elder brother and then its permitted to marry her as per the smriti.

All of Sugreeva's courtiers were exiled with him including Hanuman.

You need to ask the chinese who has the legend of Hanuman as the 'Monkey King' and his famous travel to the 'west' i.e. India.
