Let's keep mocking limited to incapable Saudis and not blame the US made defence system.
Though, in defence of missile defence systems.. i'd say we all know they do not provide 100% protection.
It worked effectively on past occasions, where target was Mecca.

It's a scud like missile, it's not like any Hamas mortars thrown to israel... one failure and it's half a medium city that get destroyed... or even the holy cities.. or thousands of death...

1- The saudis need to take their gloves off and neutralise the threat if their major cities are coming under threat

I would think that they would have very little choice but to launch at least a semi-massive response given that a major city has come under direct threat.

But I confess that I know absolutely nothing on how the Saudi mindset would operate in this kind of situation.
