You are right from a military point of view, there are only two ways of winning against an insurgency. Either co-opting some of the insurgents in to your ranks or totally decimating the population and commiting near genocide.

But I guess that's why we have the Geneva conventions and the U/N charters to stop war crimes from happening.

Also, you know, you don't have to bring Pakistan up in every discussion. I know that's not possible for you since you are our eastern cousins. But one thing you forget is that is one an occupation of a different nation while the other is between groups wanting to take over the whole state and establish their ideology on others.

Ours is a civil war, Israel on the other hand, is an occupying force in Lebanon. We don't purposefully destroy infrastructure, since we want the civilians to move back their once the terrorists are defeated. Not quite the same, is it?

I was born in Israel, but in Azerbaijan there were about 100,000 Jews, most of them immigrated to Israel

Israel did that in the past by collaborating with the Christians, but now its different.. Lebanon gov itself can't raise their voice against Hezbollah and the left over Christians and other minorities are paying the price from Hezbollah.

Lebanon is not under Israel, tell me why the trouble spread to the peaceful lebanon?? the palstinians were given place in Jordan then they gave a bad name to the Jordan gov by hijacking planes into Jordan, tried to assassinate Jordan king, then they went to Lebanon acted as a thugg by killing any christians who stood their way and invited the civil war there.

Christians are not part of the insurgency against Israel though, I was referring to Muslim groups opposing Israel in Lebanon, including Sunnis and Shias. But I personally don't think it's going to happen on a large scale, even if some Sunnis will be inclined to at least not interfere if Israel exclusively goes against Hezbollah.

Israel needs to accept that occupying Lebanese lands is not the answer, but I can't blame them for being sensitive about their security since allowing hostile forces to surround Israel on multiple fronts is likely to cause severe damage in case of any escalation.

Middle east politics is a can of worms, and I hope Pakistan continues to stay out of it.
