Xi cites Confucius as positive example for modern nation

Thai, Lao languages are part of the Tai kadai language family, btw. The closest that resembles the historical language and script by your great King -- Ramkhamhaeng-- is Northern Thai and Lao dialect. It was much later on during the time of Ayudhaya that many of the words and script of the Khmers was borrowed. That's why in Thai language you guys can say "Rs", this is similar to the Khmer language. But in northern Thai (Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai dialect), and Lao language, they do not have "Rs" but only pronounced as "L" or "H".

Example:

In the Thai language to say "Thank you very much" you will say --- Kap Kun Krahp. (Notice that the R is emphasized, and sometimes rolled).

But in the Lao language to say "Thank you very much" you will say -- Kawp jai lai lai.

Listen to this song, its just so soft to the ear, melodic.

Preaching moral righteousness, harmony and peace, Confucian doctrines were generally worshiped by ancient monarchs, but denounced a century ago by some intellectuals who blamed Confucian thought for China's decline at the time.

Considering that China is marching towards the 21st century, the youth of China are becoming accustomed to the western social customs and social contracts. It should be emphasized to study one's own confucian culture. The Cultural Revolution preached by Chairman Mao directly led to the loss of thousands of Chinese Taoist temples, confucian schools, papers and writings that were thousands of years old were lost , destroyed. It is the responsibility of Chinese leaders to preserve that culture, identity for China's own posterity.

I told you so. He's singing about how he is sorry for hurting her, how he will wait for her, for as long as it takes. Knowing that she's with another man, still, he'll wait for her.

Talk about the epitome of unrequited love eh?

. . . .
So basically you want a social system that cannot compete with those of advanced nations, and you are wondering why it has failed. OK. Keep waiting for superman to save you, but don't force this choice on others.
.
Lol Many Chinese see Mao as the superman to save them, even though Mao brought disaster to them,so what?Mao have more power than the emperors,do the communists force their choice on us?We don't wait for the superman to save us,but we respect the traditions.
What the advanced nations you talk about?UK still has a queen, their national anthem is still God save the queen,so UK is backward country? If you think feminism, gay, lesibian, infant abortion is advanced culture, then I prefer to live in a backward country
Then do you know what is a landlord,I can tell you,I'm from Kaiyuan,Liaoning. My family live in a Manchu villiage,we were live there from the order of emperor Kangxi. Most of us from the same clan. Then in the civil war(or the liberated war),the communists said two families from our clan are landlords,my family was lucky, they were middle farmers(中农)accord to communists, and some families of our clan were poor farmers(贫农),even though they are same blood, they were divided by classes by the communists. How some farmers became the so-called landlords?Because of hard working and clever brains. Now I think you know very well how the families of so-called landlords treated before the 1980,the communists treated them like dirts, worse than the high caste Hindus treat Dalits. It's the first time in China, punish hard working. Thanks to Deng abolish this retard system.

The problem is Confucianism is that it was twisted by ruling monarchs to help them suppress dissent, and for elites to maintain power. The original teachings of Confucianism has been changed beyond recognition by various government-controlled scholars throughout the years, discriminating against martial spirit and skills outside of writing poetry and articles. Over time, it turned into a class system and weaken Chinese societal progress. Confucius himself would jump out of his grave if he saw what his teachings had been modified into.

Fun fact, Confucius himself was physically quite powerful and a capable swordsman. His disciples were also specialized in various arts stretching from crafting, maths to martial practices. Funny that these attributes were looked down upon by later false Confucians.

And the Chinese people replaced Confucius with Mao.

Mao's Little Red Book was credited with miraculous powers, from curing cancer tumors to help workers raise sinking Shanghai nearly an inch.

The Mao Cult
A study session with the Quotations "... supplied the breath of life to soldiers gasping in the thin air of the Tibetan plateau; enabled workers to raise the sinking city of Shanghai three-quarters of an inch; inspired a million people to subdue a tidal wave in 1969, inaccurate meteorologists to forecast weather correctly, a group of housewives to re-invent shoe polish, surgeons to sew back severed fingers and remove a ninety-nine pound tumor as big as a football."
Citizens were 'encouraged' to pray to Mao's portrait, which was mandatory in every home.

Chairman Mao: How the mango came to symbolize loyalty to his government
In the middle of an uneasy peace, Mao received a crate of mangoes from the Pakistani foreign minister, who was visiting Beijing. Mao regifted the fruit to the factory workers’ peacekeeping squads—who were now calling themselves “The Worker-Peasant Mao Zedong Thought Propaganda Teams”—in thanks for their efforts.

Workers saw the mango as an indication of Mao’s care for the working class. The crate of mangoes was split up and individual fruits were sent to factories. There they were put on altars, sealed in wax, pickled in formaldehyde, and (in at least one factory) boiled in water, of which each worker drank a symbolic spoonful.
Mao was practically the peer of Jesus.

They claimed that the 'red book' could cure cancers? How very interesting.

Thanks for the links, Sir.

So in other words, it wasn't the fault of the School of Confucian Thought, but by the erroneous application and distortion of Confucian concepts by some monarchs. Your example is similar to how some radical Christian groups, Islamic groups, Buddhist groups distort the core teachings of their religions to meet some kind of political goal. The error is on those who use the principles erroneously, would you not agree?

My point is, is it fair to blame Confucianism for the poor decision making of some dead monarchs? I think not.

I don't know about distortion of religious teachings, but generally religious groups are a lot more tame today compared to the brutal nature of ancient times. The Old Testament and Quran are actually quite brutal and contains lots of contradictions. Confucianism was simply transformed from a school of thought by the ruling elites into a class system, so they can retain power. Government officials and scholars were at the top, followed by farmers. Craftsmen, traders and soldiers were looked down upon. Over time, Chinese technological and military power declined as people involved in those fields have low social status. It's not fair to blame Confucius for what later generations did to distort his teachings.
