Tourists in India stay for very long time many times longer than they had planned and sometimes beyond their visa I read it somewhere that even though Thailand receives more tourists than India they stay there for 2-3 days while in India average stay is 16-20 days.India is second to China inAsia in tourists earnings.

India is very costly my dear friend. In terms of hotel tariff and air ticket prices etc. Hotels in India is more expensive then hotels in USA or Europe.

Presently India is 16 position by tourist spending still we are not even 10% of our real potential as a tourist destination.

But ask this question to Israelis or Britishers or Russians who stays in India for months.

the average person have a job and family commitment in their home country to be vacationing for over a month.

I know people who in Canada we refer to as "snow birds" take off for six months to their second home in Florida, Mexico or the Caribbeans to get away from the cold.

I got a friend who just wanted to go back to his mother birthplace and see thailand for 3 weeks. he left in the summer of 2009 and has never been back to canada yet. he still tell me he's vactioning!

India and china is very big, I watch "the ganges" and "wild china" all the time... wouldn't surprise me at all if these 2 countries be top tourist destination in 20 years, although i can see china getting there a lot sooner

well i see hundreds of tourists visiting hill stations near mumbai and they travel by train with huge tourist back packs as if they gonna camp out somewhere...but most of the times they stay here for more than 2 weeks at least...i have Taiwanese friends who come here every year for more than a month..
If you want to see India...then you must know that its really hugeeeeeeee..not only by size but also by variety of places...you can not see whole India in less than a month...I one day want to travel everywhere
but till today i have only been to pune and banglore out of mumbai

It was. We moved from 70 to 41. Considering how we handled CW games, we are lucky to even get that many tourists. We are renowned for our sheer exaggeration. India makes too many promises and not even 1% of them are ever kept.

well in india peoples civic sense such as spitting on walls in public places in mumbai and lack of hyginic enimities stray tourist of. This puts negative impression on tourists. As I am currently in Mumbai I can see how people drive, they dont value human life and traffic rules are a joke and people spitting on train station is just too much. Even for tourists.
So I blame citizens of India for making india dirty
