'World's oldest' 48-feet long Buddha statue unearthed in Haripur district

.
Where in the Quran does it call for defacing or destroying statues and forbids against them?

Have not heard of the example of Ibrahim (peace be upon him)? Or how Rasulullah (peace be upon him) literally went inside the Ka'ba and hit the statues in it with a stick? What about the clear-cut ahadith mentioning the breaking of all statues? Or all the Imams that held the same view as me?

Abu’l-Hiyaaj al-Asadi said: ‘Ali ibn Abi Taalib said to me: Shall I not send you on the same basis as the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) sent me? Do not leave any statue without destroying it, and do not leave any built-up grave without razing it to the ground. (According to one report: and do not leave any picture without erasing it). (narrated by Muslim, 969).

Abu Talhah said: I heard the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) say: The angels do not enter a house in which there is a dog or statues.” (Narrated by al-Bukhaari, 3053; Muslim, 2106).

Turkey? Tell the Turks to remove these and they will tear you a new one.

Iraq? This is statue of Saddam being toppled when the country recieved 'freedom' delivered by US. Notice it was US tanks that toppled the statue.

That does not change what should be and will be done (insha'Allah):

Abu’l-Hiyaaj al-Asadi said: ‘Ali ibn Abi Taalib said to me: Shall I not send you on the same basis as the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) sent me?

why don't you give it a try and deface them.

I don't need to, others are doing the job very well. The link I posted proves that.

explode himself
spill blood of fellow Muslims

As is usual of your type, you will accuse any religious Muslim of being an evil bloodshedder when nobody even brings up the topic of violence.

So, nothing in the Quran?

This is real Islam. Idols are not allowed to be publicly displayed in a Muslim nation. They must be defaced at the bare minimum.

That's haram revenue, they can only be kept for such a purpose after being defaced and left in a humiliated state.
This is what I heard too that the faces must be defaced.

Are you sure this is Haraam revenue? I have to ask an Islamic scholar on this one. What happens if it is kept in a museum.

So, nothing in the Quran?

We also have to follow the Sunnah and Hadiths.

About defacing the faces of statues, this is what I heard too.

This is like common knowledge. I am not a scholar who can cite a page from a book.

You're just salty over the fact that Islam bans statues. Keep crying.
Yes you are correct, it is Haraam to keep statues.

Our scholars have had a lot of fun distorting Hadith to suit their backwards and regressive ways. Here’s my interpretation of the Hadith - they refer to a very specific time in history and likely refer to making a point about not performing idol worship. Merely constructing statues does not lead to idol worship, that’s just stupid logic. It requires a conscious decision to worship them and no Muslim is going to just start worshipping a Buddha statue just because the statue exists.

On the other hand, destruction of statues potentially violates a very central tenet of Islam - that of allowing non-Muslims to practice their faith freely. There are many faiths in which statues play an important role, so destruction of such statues would be the equivalent of violating Islam’s commandments of allowing everyone to practice their faith freely, not to mention a huge insult to those faiths.

When your opinion goes against what a majority of scholars agree on then your opinion can be disregarded.

Sorry, but to keep statues in the home is Haraam. This I know.

But if the statues are kept in the museum, then I don't know. I think also a person's intention has to be taken into consideration. But one of the members here is saying this is Haraam too.

Like I said I have to ask someone who is knowledgeable on the matter.

. . .
Kitni baar unearth hota hai ye buddha?

Oh wait its the same thread..

he said, she said she heard from who heard from who heard from ad infinitum, great historical document that keeps trying to contradict the Quran!

I don't think you know how ahadith work, so please don't comment on something you don't know about.

If you disagree with my opinion that’s fine, I’ll respect that, but simply stating that ‘a majority of scholars say otherwise’ is not a rebuttal. Give me logical reasons why Islam would want statues to be destroyed or defaced. If you can’t, then ask some Mullahs or google it. I provided my reasons as to why destroying and defacing statues makes no sense in today’s world, and how it in fact contradicts Islamic teachings in many ways.

It is time we stopped just accepting everything Mullahs tell us without questioning them and bringing up own own objections and arguments- they should be able to provide us with justifications for their interpretations backed up by logic and facts.

I am not an expert on Islam. I have only some knowledge.

You can give your personal opinion on the matter through your personal study, but your opinion does not have the same weight as someone who is scholarly and has a degree in Islamic studies, and can thus give an scholarly opinion.

I am not saying blindly believe some Mullahs.

I am saying what is the consensus of scholars on the subject.

Regards.
