World Economy As Seen From Space

Okey, you seriously developed an idiotic logical argument. One question, how Japan is so much lighting up?

The graphs, as i analysed with more detail many times earlier, used different zones for different times for different countries ... - basically they can print whatever whenever they feel like, so that they were apples vs oranges vs potatos once in a "world map"...

which word of above sentense you don't get it, you moron?

@Speeder 2 , @OrionHunter

You guys are arguing unnecessarily. The study clearly says they used data between 8:30pm and 10pm local time.

And that is sound reasoning. Before that there could be day light and after 10 , well people switch lights off and go to sleep.

It makes ZERO sense to question the veracity of this analysis. @Speeder2 - r u happy now?

In fact this is considered a better visualization than even gdp based ones because light is captured at 1sq.km grain level and therefore can be grouped for city-suburb-rural differentiation whereas gdp etc are almost never available at such grains.

And there are several acclaimed papers proving the link between development and night light. So stop being stupid! data speaks

Right next to india to the north east vast portion of it is dark. Isn't that china ?
Why is it in darkness ?

India looks 100% lightened up, while china looks around 30-40% lightened up. Why is it so ?

Keep in mind, China is three times the size of India and has a more diverse geography. The dark portion is the Tibetan plateau which has low population density. This is the same reason why large part of Australia is also dark. Low population density regions simply has less nighttime lightning.

The night time map is a better indicator for population distribution rather than economy.

That clown will still think you're trolling!! :D

either way, the India graph was clearly photoshopped to some extend, because NO WAY entire Indian territory (including even moutains, etc) was more densely lit like 1 giant city than South and Eastern coasts of China and Thailand/Malaysia/Vietnam - this is soooooo fake!

It means there is no city or villages in central china???
There are, but there's little or no electricity out there.

Ideally India should be the bread basket of the world with nearly half of it's large landmass being fertile !!!
Toatally agree. But again it also has 1/6 of world population. But still Indian is not even 20% of its true potential today.
