.
What I mean in simple words is it should depend upon Tamils ( or locals ) if they want that memorials.

Tamilians do love the motherland irrespective of thier religion. And they are very good people.

NO , they were fighting for the liberation of the Motherland. Marathas do have a history to fight for the motherland.

No, there are some problematic issues 'technically'. Rani Jhansi's involvement did not come in until the succession of her adopted child became a problem. But the point I'm making is you should ignore those things. The bigger enemy being the British any attempt to overthrow them should be considered valorous. The idea of modern India as one country under a single government of democracy began to develop starting 1900 only. And yes, the congress did have a great hand in it.

why? You won't get a single 'clean' hero with all the check marks. You'll find problems in Hindu leaders too. Why do you want to unnecessarily complicate things?

The Mysore ruler posted Hyder Ali as the commandant of Dindigul, in recognition of the pivotal role that he played in many battles. The main task given to Hyder Ali at Dindigul was to put an end to the menace of the refractory elements and he accomplished the job effectively.

Thanks to the special initiatives taken by Hyder Ali, the volume of tax collection rose remarkably. He gave a portion of the collection towards the construction and renovation of temples and mosques and also allotted considerable share for starting factories with the help of French engineers in the town. Soon he won the hearts of the people in Dindigul and the entire society extended unstinted support to his endeavours.

The most famous historical landmark of Dindigul is the Rock Fort, which is located atop a hill. King Muthukrishna Naicker of Madurai constructed the Fort. In 1755, Hyder Ali, his wife and son Tipu Sultan came to Dindigul. Tipu Sultan ruled the fort from 1784 to 1790. The English defeated Tipu Sultan in the Mysore War of 1790, and annexed the Fort.

It was at a mosque in Dindigul, constructed by Hyder Ali, that the body of his younger sister Ameerunnisa Begum was buried. The Begumpur mosque was named after her.

What is your "criteria" to anoint a "HERO" ? :coffee:

Just being a Mass Murderer, Tyrant and Bigot is enough ?

What is this "special initiative" taken by Hyder ali to increase tax ? especially since he as an illiterate like his father before him ?

.
LOL.... Is that a Threat ?

That I must bow to "muslim sentiment" and recognize Bigots like Tipu and Aurangzeb as "Heroes" or India will NOT be a united nation under one flag ?

Sorry, no can do. India WILL Continue to be a Single United Nation under one Flag and the TRUTH shall be set free and Bigotry and Bigots will be exposed for who they are.

Now to the only relevant fact you stated, introductions of Rockets. You are wrong as usual.

Tipu's GRANDFATHER, Hyder Ali's father, was the Naik or chief constable at Budikote where he commanded 600 men, 500 horses and 50 Rocketmen for the Nawab of Arcot :cheesy:

His name was Fath Muhammad. But he did not invent the Rockets either.

Rockets were first used by the Marathas (let by Tara Bai) against Aurangzeb when he invaded south India. It is recorded that during the Siege of Wagingera in 1704, Aurangazeb's commander Rao Dalpat Bundela elephant was killed when it was hit by a Rocket fired by the marathas.

Zulfiqar Khan Nusrat Jung - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

THIS was the rocket which was passed on to the Nawat of Arcot and from him to Fath Muhammad, son Hyder Ali and his son Tipu Sultan.

Tipu Sultan added sword and blade to the Rocket. That was his people's contribution.

So NOW tell me, WHO introduced Rockets in India ? or used them in Warfare First ? :azn:

Hyder Ali had even selected Raushan Begum, daughter of Imam Saheb Bakshi of Arcot, Vellore district, as the worthy bride of Tipu Sultan

You wll never get that. Kings and Queens were basically adventurers who built kingdoms on force. That's the same thing everywhere in the world. In those days it was not 'India' or 'Motherland'. It was 'mysore' trying to get territory from Hyderabad or Marathas getting territory from Mughals and so on. They weren't statesmen or anything. If you look for clean heros you won't find a single one in that list.

.
wow! I just did not know there was this much controversy about Tipu Sultan. I remember vaguely we had may be a page on him in school and that basically was about his fight against the British. Nothing about his Kerala attacks but I did see after a long time while touring Kerala, in a beautiful palace (forgot the name) a painting showing Tipu being carried away after being severely hurt by the local Raja's forces when he attacked.

.
Cannons and Rockets are 2 different things

Yes they are. But you do realize that gunpowder is used inside a rocket, right ?

On the matter or Rocket, the earliest known record of Rocket used in Warfare is during Akbar's time.

The Rajputs used two different kind of rockets called the Kahak Bana and Chandra bana. They were adapted into Akbar's army and were also known as Tir-a-Hawai or Agni Bana.
