'Wolf Warrior 2' earns $500m, breaks box office record

I tried watching the first one but couldn't get into it. This one looks much much better.

Chinese Rambo gunning down American mercenary scum in Africa.

@TaiShang
Welcome back!

Thank you , brother. Have been outside Taiwan recently. Will be back and try to be more active soon.

About this sequel, definitely an improvement over the first one. At least not apologetic and weirdly politically correct.

Nonetheless, China movie industry propaganda and stereotype-making ability is still not half of that of Hollywood.

It is a good start , however, as it puts the West, (not a particular race) in a bad light.

Now, with the commercial success at hand, I hope Mainland investors will bank in this genre.

We need to create and commercialize cliches about the US/West just as they have been doing with non-West for decades.

The only threat is to become apologetic and revert back from this current success of money and idea making.

Are Chinese movies released internationally with English or some other language subtitles? Wouldnt mind watching this tbh.

Of course, if it is officially released and distributed, it comes with local sub. If not released but available illegally online, then, it depends on the amateur fans.

Welcome back!
First one was Wu was sent to see if he got the skills to be part of wolf warrior team after he was disciplined for disobeying an order while on a mission. The foreign mercenaries hired by the man who played Sima Yi had other plans for them as they tresspass into the training grounds turning the training into a fight for life

Hell yeah, son! I want to see Chinese action heroes wielding machine-guns akimbo and mowing down the white hordes. Then I can be all like:
200.gif

Lol. Just look at the butthurt this movie is causing Uh'Muhrikkkans:

Like America has never made movies where only Americans led by a white man aka "the Chosen One" could only save the world. Red eye syndrome for him.

Chinese movie release internationally usually with English and Local subtitle to goes with (In case the local subtitle again is English, then usually with Dual Chinese and English), but for this movie, you have a lot of Dialogue in English, some important line were delivered via Chinese but they aren't really that much to begin with

To be honest, I watched this movie from online, one of my friend who send me a link and watch it illegally (yes, I did that from time to time), unless you are ultra nationalistic Chinese, you probably don't really understand what the hell is going on, and the fight scene is of typical kung fu movie, which a lot of melee and the gun scene is actually honestly bad.

The person who play the main character (Jing Wu) cannot really portray himself as a Special Operative, he did fight a lot with knife and fist and that's all good, but at one point I actually doubt is this movie having any Military Technical Director to tell the actor/actress how to move and how to use a firearms because these are quite weak to be honest. (Especially the very first scene where Wu single handily receive a cargo ship being occupied by pirate...)

Storyline-wise, it's weak, there aren't too much plot to go with, there are 2, how Leng Feng (The main character) back-story comingle with the refugee crisis at hand, and how to get these people to the safe zone. Plot weren't elaborated enough for you to understand why (Maybe it's related to the first film? I didn't watch that)

Not going to tell you a lot of the scene so if you decided to watch it, you can still enjoy the movie, but for me, I don't think this is a good action movie, it's like watching expandable, but talking about stuff that you won't quite understand if you aren't Chinese, and lacking the funny side and wise-crack moment Stallone and Statham have to offer. It's a serious piece of fighting movie, fight a patriot clause and unless you are really into the clause (Which associated with how he got kicked out of the Chinese Special Force and himself become a mercenary to begin with), I probably won't bothered to watch because most likely you won't understand what is going on.

But if all you want is to watch something to pass an hour or so, then it will be alright.

The movie is a reflection of successful evacuations of Chinese citizens in Africa.

China’s swift and massive rescue operation to evacuate its more than 30,000 citizens from unrest-hit Libya has been portrayed by Chinese analysts and the media here as a reflection of the country’s growing comprehensive national power and rising naval capabilities.

As of Monday, China had already evacuated as many as 29,000 of its nationals, according to the Foreign Ministry. The details of the evacuation effort have received wide coverage in the State media in recent days, with an emphasis on the speediness of the response as well as the key role played by the People’s Liberation Army’s Navy (PLAN) in directing the rescue effort.

The PLAN dispatched a missile frigate, Xuzhou, to provide protection to Chinese ships participating in evacuation efforts off the Libyan coast. Some analysts said this marked the first instance of the PLAN deploying such a vessel in non-combatant evacuation operations.

The coverage here also stressed the swiftness of the Chinese government’s response. “The Chinese government was among the first group of nations to evacuate its nationals from Libya,” the official China Daily said.

By Saturday, when less than one thousand of India’s 18,000 nationals had returned home, China had already evacuated 10,000 of its citizens.

“This is the first time the Chinese navy has participated in such a mission. It once again proves the People’s Liberation Army is a reliable force safeguarding the safety of all Chinese people, be they at home or overseas,” the China Dailysaid. “The country’s growing comprehensive national strength has provided a strong backing to such a massive operation overseas.”

Quick dispatch of aircraft

China also managed to dispatch its aircraft quicker than many countries, including India. Its first aircraft left Beijing on Wednesday. The aviation administration said it had prepared 15 aircraft for each day for the next two weeks, for rescue operations.

China’s response, according to the official Global Times, reflected the government’s “improved ability to react swiftly to emergencies”.

The newspaper also called on the PLA to accelerate construction of aircraft carriers, which it said would reflect the country’s “great power status”, AFP reported.

China’s first home-made aircraft carrier is expected to be unveiled by 2014, a year ahead of schedule. The government for the first time, officially confirmed the highly guarded, but much debated, project in December, in a report released by the State Oceanic Administration.

@3:30, “祖国万岁!祖国万岁!”. I broke into tears every times I watch this video. :china::china::china:

I love that this movie heavily rustled the jim-jams of Westerners and their gofers. "Why's whitey getting shot!? WAH! WAAAAAH!!"

I'm looking forward to Wolf Warrior 3 with ten times the budget.

Mowing down "white bois" is what constitutes great films these days? Are you kidding me?

600 million dollars already! China's box office is truly on its way to overtaking america's.

Hollywood holds 9 of the top 10 grossing films so far this year.

An that's with Thor: Ragnarok, Blade Runner:2049, Coco(Pixar film), Justice League, and Star Wars: The Last Jedi yet to be released.

meh, I prefer Jackie Chan movie, at least I got some cheap laugh out of it, this one does not click, if I want to see American white boi getting killed, I would go watch British Movie or TV where the American always bad and always got killed by British Agent. To be honest, this movie does not even meet the Strike Back level, and I worked on that set and I can personally tell you they were crap.

This may work in China, because of the nationalistic thing, but this hardly breaking 10 millions mark in the west. And virtually nobody in the west know about this movie even exist.

That is what constitutes great film to these Chinese fanboi. This movie is to be honest, does not have any watch value to begin with, the whole movie is under the banner of "I am doing this for the banner and country" You may as well make a movie of Chinese National Anthem and have the main character keep killing white boi to the sound of the march, I would honestly think that would earn as much as this movie in China, because this is exactly what that kind of movie is.

The guy (Wu) can't act, the dialogue is cheesy, their movement is all wrong, they were supposed to be a special force of sort but no one ever walk tactically for the whole movie. It's like you are watching Top Gun with flag flying and without Maverick's and goose wise-cracking moment, there are none of this movie is anything remotely funny about, maybe some toward the end?

In the west, movie is less political, especially now the Hollywood need to consider a lot of backer to not piss ff anyone, and that ends up the Hollywood losing a lot of traditional enemy.
