Guess I should continue with AVG (free)..... Only thing is I read they are offering more services than AVG.....hence the query

Any reasons why microsoft is not considered trustful.....

because they are not trustful simple

1. there products lack testing
2. when they themselves have made OS there should not be any vulnerability of attack but still they call it stable when any kid can destablize it with quick hacks


how can you be so sure that this anti viral program would be safe when other microsoft products are dependent on 3rd party software for their security and protection

hmmm. what i have is cracked Eset Smart security...Updates modules regularly ...using it for 4 years now and still no lapses in detection.
Even if theres a suspicious malware u can send it to there center via app and have it dealt with the next update.
The Firewall is good as well

Windows doesn't suk or Linux fro that matter.. Windows does most of the work for u; Linux on the other hand is an open sourced OS/Tool for modular methodologies in development.
Windows has better marketing is more media optimized....it all boils down to ur preferences ...a serious gamers goes for Windows on the other hand a serious Corp* goes for Linux as its more secure(in general theoretical terms) due to scarcity of the particular source code in use for the malware/Virus/Injectors developers to work on simultaneously anywhere they are.
Windows 7 is the most secure of OS as of now but is too expensive for Corp* mass utilization

I am using dualboot Vista with Ubuntu......

The thing I lack most in windows is Software center....

adblock plus is also available for chrome.... seach the webstore

The thing I lack most in windows is Software center....

nothing is free in windows my friend. But software centre rocks. do you know maemo OS for phones have the similar thing. they are based on debian

FF i use just for downloading youtube videos and all. havent tried FF4 as its .deb pack is still not there. they are sticking with rpm packages for now.

Hmm.... I dont buy antivirus softwares....I usually use Ubuntu though occasionally use windows too.....

What you say seems a good idea.....lemme try that......

better use oracle virtual box from within ubuntu if you dont have to run heavy apps on windows.

Y vista? Win 7 is actually a bug and loophole-free version of Vista and is better optimized fro Quad core as well as x64. upgrade to that.
Dual boot is nifty, but the Utilities of Ubuntu is pointless and serves only the purpose of Learning Linux if u need it in ur study or job.
Linux is a dead end if u dont use it for anything other than base entertainment or if u have old-harware.

i beg to differ windows can never provide with the networking support as linux does and that too free. with windows either you end up with the pirated version of softwares or end up emptying your pockets. windows eats up too much of system resources and OS is quite heavy. even 7 32 bit wont run fine within the constraint of 4 gb ram if you install heavy softwares when the net capacity of 32 bit is 4gb only.

Yeah right windows is costly.......When the pirated version of windows 7 started bugging me (with blank screen) I switched to ubuntu and never felt like I am missing much....

No no idea about phones much......didn't find it fancy enough to spend money...

On top of that we have 5 phones and with members in family.....so no chance of changing my phone for next 3 years atleast......

hahah its ok its just that maemo 5 based n900 really rocks with ubuntu. you can ssh to it without connecting cables u can install vnc and connect your desktop from anywhere in the world. sync your system and phone without any cables or something

and as far as ubuntu goes for smaller apps WINE always does the trick for everthing else there is oracle virtualbox

yeah thats the only thing which i am not able to find alternative. but at the end of the day i have a backup app in my phone by default. i back it up and keep the data in the memory card and convert my contacts to biz card format and save on system.
