Population hardly matters. A population of 50m plus is more than enough for any country. Over 200m for countries smaller than 2000000 km2 is too much.

Population matters. If China with a paltry GDP per capita of USD 5000 is touted to be a future super power, it is because of its population size.

And what resources does india has?

What doesn't India has. Oil and Gas are not the only resource

Actually, @DRaisinHerald, you're underestimating how much population matters. If Saudi Arabia had a population of a 200 million it would have a much better chance of growth and becoming more powerful than it does today due to the lack of population.

While KSA is quite underpopulated for it's size, it's 'lack of growth' has hardly anything to do with that. KSA can become much more powerful if they started heavily investing in science and education. If they keep the current trend up a larger population (esp 200m) might bring more problems than benefits.

not to offend you, but world power and super power are different things.

Though Pakistan can be a world power in future if it is governed properly, but it can never be a Super Power like US is today or India/China/Russia will be in future.

The only candidates for super power in next 200 years is India, China, Russia or US itself again.

I dont think Russia can be a superpower in the future...Its declining population is a big problem...China and India on the other hand, as you mentioned, can and probably will...In Muslim world, Indonesia and Pakistan might have a chance(slim to none)...Indonesia lacks nukes(though i am not sure about having nukes is directly related to being a superpower) and Pakistan lacks good management

where will KSA focus science and tech or women and religion. You must know Science/Technology and extreme Religion dont go together ever.

also why would a saudi kid spend his energy in understanding quantum physics when he can drive a mercedes right from Childhood?

Correction, our GDP per capita of 2012 was over 6000 USD. :coffee:

6000 USD or 7000 USD doesn't matter, compare that to GDP per capita of Europe or US. Why do you think no European country is considered a future superpower in spite of having a GDP of more than USD 40000?

Russia has more chance to be a super power again. Anyhow Russia will always have more chance then any other country in this world (except for India and China).

Indonesia and Pakistan again no chance. Biggest reason is their lack of scientific institutions and the increasing focus on religious education and not scientific education.

Nukes cannot make a nation super power. Israel has nukes and is much more better managed then any Muslim country or even India/China/Russia.

I know one thing, as a society you can either focus on religion or you can focus on science. and in 21st century and beyond those who focus on science would be the world powers. The times of raw physical power and big armies invading on horses and killing with swords and arrows is gone.

You're quite modest :P What about Turkey?
You have arguably the best chances I believe.

Well I understand your urges to troll, but that is all together a different topic.

Same can be said about Pakistan and the rest of the Muslim states. :P

So in general the larger the area you have more are your resources. India being almost 5 times larger than Pakistan should have 5 times more resources. So what makes you think Pakistan will become superpower while India not?

You Indians are a funny lot.
You live in a slum dog country and would sell your mothers at a chance to a get a visa to KSA, yet if you believed internet Hindus, you would Think is is the richest country on earth and it is the Saudis begging for Visas.

Of course the reality is that KSA is investing big time into education and positioning itself in a post oil world.

India... well at the very least Indian women can look forward to 1 rape every 20 min.

It doesn't matter, when our GDP per capita is about 10k-15k USD, our economy power can only be matched by USA, while some tiny European country with 100k USD per capita isn't even worthy to mention about.

Even Italy has a GDP bigger than Russia with both nominal and per capita, but do you truly believe that Italy is more powerful than Russia?

When China has the largest GDP in nominal, no other country is more powerful than China. :coffee:
