The term "Tax Net" which is quite often used in western civilization, is in itself very offensive as if the citizens are the catches and state is netting them into taxes. You pay your taxes willingly, good on you, I am not here to judge you, but there is also a term called "bloody tax man" that I have heard often while living in UK. The "tax man" is probably the most hated person along side traffic warden. Majority of people who live in western civilization DO NOT want to pay their taxes but they are "forced" to pay through their noses because the "tax net" is as such, there is no escape from it. It is just the basic human nature, whatever you earn, you want to keep every penny of it to yourself. without going into the debate as to what is right and wrong. Now coming back to the argument, in Pakistan the problem is that tax net is not efficient at all which doesnt catch the big fishes. When you have a PM who only pay few thousands Rupees in taxes, then what else is there to say.

Soon, you'll have wrong people working in wrong places, cheaters, businesses not providing right products and services, and everyone wanting "their cut". Sounds familiar? Yea, its Pakistan. In 2000, the American neo cons produced an article with a hit list of many Muslim nations that they intended to destroy. Apart from 2 nations, all those nations have been destroyed and plunged into an abyss. The 2 nations that have not yet been attacked are Pakistan and Iran. Part of the reason why Pakistan was not invaded by the americans was because of our nuclear weapons and the fact that Pakistan allegedly possess the "best terrorist guerrilla fighters in the world" in large numbers who would inflict heavy and unacceptable damage on an invading American military force (even if our conventional military completely failed). If Pakistan was weak and vulnerable our fate would have been the same as that of the millions of innocent Iraqis and Afghans killed by the americans between 2001-2014 (may their souls RIP). So YES, being in debt of over a $100 trillion dollars is not as bad as NOT having nuclear weapons as far as Pakistan is concerned.

I would like to take the opportunity to thank the countless patriotic and selfless Pakistani men and women who for over 45 years have in one way or another helped Pakistan to become the world's first ever Muslim nuclear weapons state and ensured our survival from evil foreign invaders. You might have not known but Pakistan was the first Islamic state to be threatened with dire consequences after 9/11 event, should it side with the Taliban and Al-Qaeda network. Reason was Pakistan's location and history of relationship with the Taliban in Afghanistan. However, Pervez Musharraf saved Pakistan through his brilliant diplomacy (our nukes didn't guarantee our safety back then).

A strong security apparatus is beneficial but so is diplomacy. I notice several members advising against diplomatic relationship with the US; they don't realize that this would be an immature and dangerous policy. People should be realistic.

As far as debt is concerned, we should ensure that it doesn't exceeds a certain threshold that economy becomes unsustainable. Consequences will be severe otherwise (another member @Taimoor Khan explained this matter in a good manner to you). We should be wiser in the selection of a Finance Minister but PML(N) is not as wise in this matter.

Of course that has happened. But that pales in comparison to the consequences of Pakistan not having nuclear weapons. A very good example is what happened to Iraq at the hands of the americans between 2003-12. That situation completely justified the Pakistan military's pursuit of nukes and other high-tech military hardware. If Iraq's military was as strong & powerful as Pakistan's than they would not have been destroyed and ISIS would not be rampaging across the Middle East.

Iraq was once a great military power; arguably the strongest during early 1990s.

However, Persian Gulf War (1991) and sanctions eroded Iraqi military capability to a great extent.

When you bribe others like you, who work in the tax collection part of the taxation, you save some taxes, give some to them as Bribe and overall, screw your own country. Then, a few decades after, you cry over power outages, business failing, little to no business growth opportunity and infrastructure, education and lack of healthcare. So unless you people wake up and realize your past shenanigans have fukked your country upside down, no Jesus would come to rescue you.
