At the time of my post the votes are split evenly between yes and no, 9 each.
The ppl voting on this seem to be just as divided as the Koreans
On a serious note...there's quite a few hurdles that make unification an impossibility in the foreseeable future. One of these hurdles is Kim Jong Un...the man has everything...money, power, women, a kingdom of his very own, and basically all he desires. Why would he want to change the status quo? Unification will disturb what he has going for himself and possibly take it all away. I've never known a man who would willingly give up all those riches/power for the greater good.
Secondly if by some miracle Kim Jong Un can be convinced to agree to unification then there comes the hurdle of the new Cold War. US likes South Korea in its camp and wants to keep it that way. China/Russia(China specially) wouldn't want to have a staunch US ally that close to it sitting unchecked...so naturally China would like North Korea to remain there as a counter balance to South Korea. Any attempts at unification will be thwarted under the pressure of both US and China on their respective sides.
I would personally like the two to be united bcuz in my opinion that's what's best for the ppl(specially the North Korean ppl). There would be some problems in the beginning for the United Korea bcuz it will find itself with a major part of a population that's poor...but in the long run it will be better for them economically to have more ppl, more land, more resources.
