Will East Asia ever be integrated?

......hahahahahahahaha LOL!!!!

I added a paragraph at the end...read it. Was editing just when i got notification you quoted.

Is a sad story, smart people all over the world dying out, only the rats breed like....rats.

You're too gentle for me to shoot you down. :smitten:
Plus the oversimplified "narrative" (parts of your posts are LOL-specifically world domination-west is dead mantra-do all 3 countries you mention even surpass EU gdp?) of this thread isn't for me.
Plus i'm counting on you to get me a job in Japanese "movie" industry so that i can realize my fantasy of meeting Hitomi Tanaka and contribute to the declining birth rates with my uber gene pool! :enjoy:
As i'm not selfish, i will then go on to do my best to improve the declining birth rates everywhere-China, Korea, EU, Iran...np all goes! I'm such a philantropist lel.

i could go on about how forex you mention is really a pension fund, not to be thrown around or bragged with, same with China (pension+medical+environment cleanup fund) etc etc.....but it's summertime, 30+C, hot skirts everywhere.....no time for protracted debating. i just read a bit....

Above all, i think this thread is you feeling the turf, as Japan faces long term stagnation and the only acceptable alternative is to join up with fellow east Asians, as non east Asian immigrants aren't really wanted much.

The population issue definitely is something that has to be tackled long term. And I believe that the right policies can solve this; look at how China solved their population explosion in the 70s with the one child policy; impressive how the state can literally alter a natural phenomena affecting and industrializing behemoth!

Tax regimes should be used to encourage procreation; reduced tax rates or increased subsidies for families with 2 or more children. That's what Japan should do so that we remain in the 100-120 million range.

This thread is also useful and many of my colleagues at the Japanese language forum I am member of actually found the responses in this thread very eye opening ; give the relative receptivity of Chinese posters here in general.

You will be surprised how even amongst Japanese nationalists, the idea of union with China is widely discussed as a necessity.

Japan has untold amount of capital invested in China, an investment that outweighs the amount Japan has focused on any other country (even the United States).

Japan's relationship with China is surely complex however professional political scientists understand that despite differences , Japan and China are joined at the hip , as the saying goes. Japan has the largest number of manufacturing sites in China bar none, and cooperation now is evolving g from manufacturing based to one that is now also addressing environmental, and technological paradigms , showcasing how mature relationship between Japan and China. Both nations are able to look past differences and find common ground. I don't think any country in the world is as similar in this dynamic.

You know that Japan has a compined sovereign fund + forex of over $3.2 Trillion. This continues to grow.

If Japan can help bail out America from economic recession through bonds purchasing, you don't think Japan can do the same for China ? A country whose success is linked to Japan's own prosperity ?

Not everything is black and white buddy.

Every learned and skilled Japanese and Chinese knows this.

These polls are based on emotions and always are conducted after sensational events. Let us remember that back in 2006, the Japanese and Koreans had very poor views in the 30-40% range, then in 4 years back in 2007-2008 era, relationship and views were very favorable .

The point is , there is always fluctuations. We should understand the full chronology of modern relationship between Seoul and Tokyo.
Good point. But those Chinese and Korean views are not going to change anytime. Its a shocker that Japan still view themselves as heroes during world war II.

It is easier to tear a second child from the mother, than it is to convince the mother of having a child at all.

As for tax policy....this lax tax policy has been in effect in many nations around EU...i can't be bothered to search for details, but apparently it ain't working that well.

Well, noone wants to die out, so it should not be surprising.

This is a very hypothetical scenario, come on man, you can't seriously think that it's going to happen.

Nations happen for a reason, let's say we merge, and we go to Mars, who's achievement is it, what do you call a union of three nations, what's that people's name. Even a few Chinese minorities don't think our achievement is their achievement and they are actually Chinese.

This isn't going to work for the same reason communist didn't work. It's a nice dream, well for some people, but it's a dream never the less. There's a better chance of me waking up next to Miranda Kerr.

Wait..... what? What natural phenomena? It was Mao's directive...."breed, breed, if nuclear war comes, the one with most people will be the winner".

Perhaps in a decade or two, Chinese debaters in this thread will be more receptive to your suggestions. By that time, they'll have their own crisis on their hands. Although, that said, they are no strangers to import of black labor force.

Gen,

That's the problem we have now because too many people think of national lines . Union is the next step in political and social evolution.

A world government ? Too loose and too mixed to work successfully. East Asian Unionnis racially homogenous and culturally similar , it will work. This required political sacrifice. But then again self annihilation for the state is not an alien concept for East Asia. This defines our very being rooted in Confucian teachings.

Foreign countries cannot understand this, or their understanding is superficial.

No. Irrespective of TPP, by far China is Japan's largest trade partner in Asia. The bilateral trade between Japan and China (I'm including HK and Taiwan) is approaching $500 Billion per annum. And this number will only increase.

Japan's relationship with China is multidimensional, you should know that.
But TPP will significantly diversify a major share of Japan's trade and not put most of the eggs in China's economic basket. At least that is what the proponents of TPP would think as a counterweight to China's economic influence.

Bro, you do know that Japan had various FTA-EPA pacts in operation right ? And the TPP will not in anyway affect this platform since there the main trading partner in TPP is the USA ; the rest of the states mentioned within already have an FTA with Japan lol.

LOL!!

As for China, we will conclude an FTA with them before 2018. More or less.

Trade volume between Japan and China should reach the $1trillion mark. It already is hitting the $500 Billion mark.

An FTA with China would only expedite this....

Lastly there's just so much money , capital on the line here. And that's a good thing.

I don't see much of this in the American news, unfortunately. Anyways, hopefully MUCH CHEAPER Anime goods if the TPP is passed.

LOL! TPP is Barry's brainchild ; of course you won't hear anything bad about it over here in the U.S. And I doubt much of the American populace know of Japan's own EPA ETA engagement. Either way, TPP won't affect Japan much since She is fairly integrated with the region.

In fact, the sooner Japan signs an FTA with both China and Korea, the better.

Japan's EPA ETA will not be written in English I bet.

I should mention that Japan is also engaging with the EU, to which we enjoy a bilateral trade of $220 Billion.

What do you mean?
Since it is trade with a non-English speaking country, I think the trade agreements between Japan and other East Asian countries that you mentioned will be written in languages of the parties involved other than English. Is that right?

Yes, that is correct.

At 128 million, I don't think we have to worry about dying out. Japan is basically the same size as German, Sweden, Norway, Finland, Denmark, Netherlands, Belgium, and the Poland combined. LOL!

We're not small in any sense of the word ;)

LOL!!
